Support CAIR-SFBA this Ramadan and help us unlock a $50,000 challenge grant!

This month, the opportunity to amplify any gift you make to CAIR-SFBA is being facilitated by a group of generous donors who have challenged us to raise $100,000. If we meet this goal, we will unlock a challenge grant in the amount of $50,000.

Together we can raise the $150,000 needed to sustain and grow our programs and services. Please make a tax-deductible and zakat-eligible donation to CAIR’s work and help us fulfill our Ramadan Challenge Grant.

Your Generous Support Enables Our Work

Some highlights from CAIR-SFBA's efforts since last Ramadan:

Civil Rights

  • Hired a full-time attorney, the third attorney on our local team, to help provide free legal assistance to the over 300 community members who contact our office each year.
  • Filed an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court in EEOC v. Abercrombie & Fitch discussing the broad implications of religious discrimination by employers.
  • Filed a lawsuit against the United States Navy and the Department of Defense when they denied a community member his right to religious accommodation and retaliated against him for being a Muslim.

Media

  • Participated in over 60 media interviews with print, radio, and television outlets reaching millions of Americans in the Bay Area and nationally.

Youth Empowerment

  • Hosted the 10th Annual Muslim Youth Leadership Program to help youth gain an in depth understanding of California's legislative process and sharpen their leadership skills.

Government & Civic Engagement

  • Published our 2014 California Voter Guide to help community members vote in the mid-term elections. More than 14,000 guides were distributed across California.
  • Hosted four Voter Education Forums at Bay Area masajid connecting the community to local candidates, introducing them to new ballot propositions, and registering them to vote.
  • Led a delegation of nearly 200 Bay Area Muslims to the 4th Annual Muslim Day at the Capitol where participants met with legislative offices to advocate on surveillance, equal pay for women in the workplace, and college affordability.

Why You Should Help

We cherish the principle that our brothers and sisters facing civil rights violations should not have to worry about whether they can afford an attorney. Your donations will enable us to sustain and grow our work, protecting the community's civil rights, empowering American Muslims, and enhancing the understanding of Islam.

How You Can Help

  • Include CAIR in your zakat allocations this month. Donations to CAIR-SFBA are both zakat-eligible and tax-deductible. Further, every dollar you donate will go towards helping us unlock the $50,000 challenge grant.
  • Use the LaunchGood share buttons to help spread the word and increase support for your civil rights organization. When CAIR is strong, the community's civil rights are protected and our collective voices are amplified.
  • Keep the CAIR staff, board, and volunteers in your duas during this blessed month.

United & Strong

Salaams friend.

(You are receiving this message because you have supported CAIR's work and specifically our 2015 LaunchGood campaign.)

The tragic events in Orlando reminded us that CAIR-SFBA's Ramadan theme of Standing United, Standing Strong, is more timely than ever.

Some politicians and media outlets have attempted to wrongly connect the tenets of our beautiful faith to such horrific events. This is irresponsible and dangerous. Hence it is important for CAIR to respond in a timely manner.

We cannot do this without your generous contributions, especially in this blessed month. Please support our work and help the Muslim community Stand United and Stand Strong.

A group of generous donors has come forward, challenging us to raise $100,000. If we meet this goal, we will unlock a Ramadan Challenge Grant in an additional amount of $50,000.

CAIR-SFBA is a 100 percent Bay Area donor-supported organization. Donations to CAIR are both tax-deductible and zakat-eligible.

You can donate online at ca.cair.com/sfba/ramadan or via LaunchGood at launchgood.com/cairsfba

Jazak Allah Khair for your continued support.

Sincerely,

In addition to the blessings, fasting, and worship during Ramadan our team was also really looking forward to this month because of the time we are able to spend with the community.

Alhamdulillah, over the course of Ramadan, in addition to other events and civil rights services, CAIR was able to:

It is your ongoing and generous support that makes our work possible. Jazaka'Allah Khair for standing with us as we work to empower the American Muslim community.

Eid Mubarak to all of you and your families from the entire CAIR-SFBA Executive Committee and staff.
