As one of the pillars of Islam, zakat is a form of obligatory charity that has the potential to ease the suffering of millions.
Zakat Fitr is one of the obligatory acts that Muslims must undertake during the Holy month of Ramadan. Each Muslim have to pay zakat fitr around one sa’ (approximately 2.6 – 3kg) of their staple food before Eid prayers begin at the end of Ramadan.
Not only for adult, but even the children or baby who was born before sunrise in idul fitri have to pay zakat fitr. It is the responsibility of the head of the household to pay for those under their care. Thus, for children, this task is undertaken by parents or guardians on their behalf.
Why pay zakat fitr through Dompet Dhuafa?
Dompet Dhuafa is an organization in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 2016. Dompet Dhuafa, established on 3 July 1993, become a leading Islamic non-profit organization in Indonesia which raises dignity and devotion of humanity to help less fortunate people by utilizing Zakat funds, infaq, charity and endowments (ZISWAF) as well as other social funds that are halal (lawful and permissible) from individuals, groups, institution and companies.

Deadly Earthquake in Indonesia. Let's support our brothers and sisters

The earthquake has devastated the Cianjur region in West Java province. The affected area is densely populated and prone to landslides. The earthquake has severely damaged thousands of homes, displacing nearly 61,000 people. Several schools have also been destroyed. Our team, Dompet Dhuafa is currently responding the emergency crisis including search and rescue, rapid need assessment, build emergency tents for the IDPs, build the public kitchen for food and drinking water distribution, and mobile health services.
We need your support. By donating to our emergency relief fund, your donation will meet emergency needs, such as the provision of food, water, and shelter, and provide long-term support in affected communities.
