Cleanliness raises the bar to dignity

To have dignity means to have worth. When you have worth you can speak with confidence and have your story heard. So much value is placed on looks in our society and the impoverished feel the sting of indignity when they can't present themselves to others in a manner that is welcoming and warm. We become responsible when the less fortunate among us are not able to care for their most primary need, which includes personal hygiene. The poor, elderly and homeless are our neighbors, friends and in some cases family. They are members of the human family and must be treated with respect.

you lost everything and found yourself at the mercy of the elements, either homeless or struggling, living in less than ideal conditions with very little in the way of financial resources to meet basic needs. Unfortunately, personal hygiene suffers tremendously so we are on a mission to provide hygiene kits for the poor, elderly and homeless.

The Project

We want to raise $7,500.00 and disperse hygiene kits every six months to those living in impoverished neighborhoods, including the elderly and the homeless. Our goal is to put together 50 kits for men, women and children. We would supply them with shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste/brush, deodorant, feminine pads, shavers, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.

Recently one of our members put together 50 kits to distribute at a homeless shelter as well as in neighborhoods where poverty is evident. The cost was $250.00.  That comes to approximately $5.00 per kit. This was achieved by shopping at dollar stores. We may able to reduce the cost by buying in bulk and therefore servicing even more people. The kit included many of the items mentioned above. Unfortunately, this is very expensive for one person to be responsible for.

How You Can Help

We need your help to make this effort a success. We ideally would like to help every needy person in our city but that is not realistic. Yet we know if we could make a small dent by impacting the lives of a few then we will have attained our goal of bringing dignity to some of those who need it the most. Your donation of $5.00 or more is crucial to the success of this campaign. Also, assisting us by spreading the word to others will go a long way to bring attention to the needs of the impoverished in this country. Your reward in making this a success is knowing someone else can achieve a state of cleanliness because of your donation.

Who Are We....

We are a group of friends who started a non-profit organization with the intention of helping to decrease poverty within our communities, while encouraging others to do the same. Prior to our non profit we have been serving meals to the homeless for over twenty five years.  We have come to realize that personal hygiene suffers when one is impoverished as it goes hand in hand with hunger.  We couldn't imagine what it would be like to not be able to cleanse oneself on a regular basis or how to even go about acquiring the items needed to complete this task. As we continue in our efforts to help those in need, we encourage you to join us by supporting this much needed service.
