Each month, we receive so many heartbreaking requests from our local brothers and sisters in need. These are good-hearted, hard-working mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters, some have had their lives disrupted by war or violence. Some, like many of us, were just one illness, one car break-down, one family emergency, one job layoff away from being in crisis, through no fault of their own.
The average amount requested per case is $1,569, but the average we are only able to give is $458 so we can spread it out evenly.
"AVERAGE INCOME NEEDED TO RENT A 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT IN FAIRFAX"With Amazon building its second headquarters in our backyard, rent is increasing at an unregulated rate. Many of our hardworking community members are unable to keep up with increasing rent prices.
We are forced to prioritize cases based on urgency and assist those in need most and those that have not taken assistance from other institutions. That does not mean that the other cases are not urgent as well. We refer additional cases to the county and other institutions, but many return to us.
