We plan to build FIVE Solar-Powered Water Wells across Pakistan ($25,000 to build each) to help provide clean water and electricity to tens of thousands of dying women and children in need!

Story: Ali was only 7 years old. He loved playing soccer. His nickname was "boom boom" because he had such a powerful kick. He has this beautiful smile every time he would hug his parents. It was hard to tell if there were more tears or dirt on his grave the day he was buried. A small sip from the disease-filled river to quench his desperate thirst is all it took to cause his death. You see, the smallest coffins are always the heaviest. The hardest goodbyes are those that come too soon. The toughest loses are those that could have been prevented. 

We can't bring Ali back. But what we can do, is let his story be the inspiration through which we help the thousands of children in Pakistan that face the exact same death that he did.

This month I ask you to join me in a promise. A promise to be the best people we can be. A promise to continually fill our hearts with as much generosity as we do our stomachs with water. A promise to give that which we don't need to provide those that do. And lastly, a promise to never forget that we are always best defined by what we are willing to do for those that can do nothing for us.

The Problem

• Pakistan is among the top 10 countries in the world with the lowest access to clean water 

• 22 million people in Pakistan don't have access to clean water 

• Women and children wake up each morning knowing they must fight to survive as they spend most of the day trying to find clean water

• 19,500 children under the age of 5 die every year due to illnesses related to dirty water

• Unsafe water kills more people than disasters and conflict combined

• Up to 443 million school days are missed each year due to water-related illnesses

The Solution

The Logistics Of How It All Will Work 

Once this campaign is complete, Penny Appeal USA will begin constructing the well with even using local personnel and resources (meaning that the well will benefit the community before it is even built!). Select individuals of the community will be chosen to ensure that the well is maintained and Penny Appeal will send personnel often to ensure that the well is functioning perfectly.

What will the $50,000 go towards?

The $50,000 raised in this campaign will go towards:

• ​Completing a needs assessment to determine which communities are currently in most need of the well
• Surveying the land in the area of need to determine the best location to construct the well
• Purchasing the equipment needed for the well
• Purchasing the solar panels 
• Construction of the well
• Maintaining the well

What Happens After The Campaign and Well Is Complete?

Once the well is complete, Penny Appeal will send each donor:

• ​GPS coordinates of the solar-powered water well
• Up to date pictures of the well as it is being constructed and additional photos once it is complete 
• Stories from the people in the community that are benefiting from the well
• Statistics each year regarding the benefit each well is providing
