Br. Ron Ratliff, father of five and our beloved community member who is a regular ADAMS Khateeb and attendee at the Halaqas at the Quba Center and local programs was in a vicious accident.  

On November 6th Ron was crossing the street in Sterling, VA he was hit by a car and suffered facial fractures and bleeding in the brain. He has been taken to Reston Hospital where he is currently in ICU.  We will keep you updated you as we hear from the doctors.

May Allah swt give him speedy FULL recovery and give his family strength and patience through these hard times.  I encourage everyone to make special dua for this father who was a regular at the masjid with his kids at fajr.  

O Allah remove the pain from Ron and cure him, you are the one who cures and there is no one besides you who can cure.  Please grant such a cure that no injury remains. - Ameen 

Please keep this father of 5 beautiful children (1 boy 4 girls) in your prayers.  His facial fractures may require plastic surgery and his brain CT scan results are being reviewed as doctors are trying to remove the internal bleeding from his head. Ron is still sedated on oxygen and has some lapses when he wakes up but hasn’t spoken yet or doesn’t show signs of recognition for people around him.

His family will need all the encouragement and support, please contribute as the road for recovery could be minimum of 6 months.

Please keep him in your prayers and help give what you can to help for medical expenses, lost pay and family support since he was the sole income provider in the family.

Update 11/8:

They said his CT Scan from this morning was stable. They tried removing the sedation but he was acting a bit frantic when he woke up so they have sedated him again. He’s 75-80% breathing on his own. Rest with the ventilator Alhamdulillah

He’s coming awake more often by moving his legs and arms a lot. He responded to me with a nod when I ask him a few questions. However, he still reacts frantic as he doesn’t know how he got to hospital.

Update 11/9:

The bleeding in the head and got worse.  The pressure is stable the Doctors say he has a TBI Traumatic Brain Injury and will have long term and permanent impairment.  To what degree the doctors do not know.  Please keep him in your duaa.
