Impact: Chicago, IL
Verification in progress. Learn More
Chicago, the 3rd largest city in the United States is a rapidly growing economic and academic hub where many Muslims call home. It continues to attract a growing number of Muslim students, young professionals, and families every year.
In light of the growing community, we aspire to provide a space that is embedded within the fabric of the city's culture. We aim to offer a center rooted in the teachings of the Prophet (ṣ) and his family (ʿa) that can be called home.
Sacred Roots, a non-profit based in Chicago, will serve to build bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood among Muslims in the city - students, professionals, families - who are currently lacking a community space in the city.
Your generous donation will unlock the potential of the Chicago Muslim Community. Help Sacred Roots raise the funds required to fund the center's programs and general operations!
Unlock the potential of the Chicago Muslim Community
Members of the local community are rooting for our success and have generously extended themselves to our cause, bringing us closer to our goal. Now, we are calling upon the Ummah to step up and support us in this journey as we work to establish and maintain Sacred Roots in The Second City.
With your help, God willing, this will be a success!
What is Sacred Roots?
Sacred Roots works to nourish a community of Muslims rooted in the teachings of the Prophet (ṣ) and His family (‘a). We connect people of various backgrounds and experiences and together explore the spiritual and intellectual heritage of Islam through acts of devotion, study, and service.
We work to be a home for Muslims and the Spiritually Curious.
Core Principles
We strive to build a community that is built on the following five key principles:
Your Contribution’s Impact
Your contribution will sustain and expand:
Weekly programs consisting of an activity, discussion, or speech along with communal prayer and a tea & coffee hour
Prayer (duʿāʾ) sessions accompanied with English translation and recitation
Intra-faith and inter-faith engagements with local religious communities
Community engagement and service activities within the city of Chicago
Ramadan Programming
Muharram Programming
Efforts to become a gateway organization for other social services in Chicago
In order to provide the space and leadership for these programs, your contributions will also support Sacred Roots’ rental space located in the Pilsen neighborhood off of Blue Island and Loomis. Our space will be home for programs, meetings, and service projects. Your contribution will also support the hiring of our Religious Scholar.
