Khaled was murdered while being a good Samaritan. Help us honor his memory by supporting Syrian refugees in need.

His big heart cost him his life.

On Friday, February 7th, Khaled Heeba, a 31 year old Syrian refugee, was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Baltimore, Maryland. He had escaped the war in Syria only to become a victim of gun violence in America.

While working his last delivery route before Friday prayer, Khaled witnessed a distressing situation taking place and rushed into action. He jumped out of his car and chased after the man who had caused the disturbance. The man pulled a gun on Khaled and killed him instantly. Khaled never made it to Friday prayer or home to his family. He died a few blocks away from home.

Khaled lived his entire life caring for those around him. He was killed while caring for someone he had never met. We'd like to continue his legacy of compassion and selflessness.

A Selfless and Compassionate Soul

"He was always concerned with our pleasure before his own. He'd work a long day and then come back and kiss my hands and feet and say 'Mama - be happy with me. Wallahi I was always happy with him." - Khaled's mother.

In an attempt to escape the war in Syria, Khaled and his parents moved to the USA. He began working at a local pizzeria and
quickly adapted to the harsh life of Baltimore city. Khaled shouldered the responsibility of being the sole provider for his family. Despite his own needs, Khaled was always concerned with the plight of others. He gave of his time and money selflessly.

Khaled was a source of optimism, happiness, and positive energy to those around him. He always found a way to make his family and friends laugh in the midst of their turmoil. We hope to give him more reasons for joy in his afterlife. We'd love for you to help us pay him back.

Honoring His Memory

“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.”
— The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

Help us honor Khaled's memory by donating to help displaced Syrian refugees in need.
In coordination with his family, a reputable organization(s) will be chosen to administer the collected donations on his behalf. May the end of his life be the beginning of comfort and security for other Syrian refugees.

May Allah (swt) have mercy on Khaled and grant him the company of the messengers and the righteous in the highest level of Paradise. Ameen.
