Help NYC financially struggling mosques to keep their spaces, Imams and staff during COVID-19

Mosques and Imams primarily rely on donations from prayer services, especially Jummah. These donations maintain the mosque and provide Imams with a stable income. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the suspension of many prayer services and has closed the doors of our beloved sacred spaces, thus cutting off all revenue for many houses of worship, lowering the salary of Imams and getting rid of staff and personnel. 

This campaign serves as an Emergency Fund for NYC mosques to get through this pandemic through the help of loans facilitated by the Islamic Leadership Council of New York. While there are other national campaigns organized by Muslim organizations, New York City contains over 500 mosques alone. Our campaign is specific to addressing our city's local needs.


What about the SBA Forgiveable Loan?

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has created a forgivable loan assistance program for small businesses and non-profit organizations, (including mosques) to cover their payroll expenses for the next couple of months. The Paycheck Protection Program can be found here.

However, many mosques:

1- Do not have the ability to complete the SBA Loan Application

2- Cannot afford to wait for their application to process due to high volumes of applications

3- Do not understand the intricacies of the application process

4- Contain significant strains in their operating budget and cannot apply for a government loan

Therefore, it is our intention that our campaign will alleviate the financial stresses for New York City mosques through a more streamlined and manageable approach.

Please donate generously to our NYC Mosque Support Fund so that our beloved sacred spaces can get through this period of difficulty with ease. We must make sure that our mosques are cared for without jeopardizing the safety of our communities.
