As a Syrian-American fortunate enough to live in the United States, I feel it is my responsibility to help the people of my country who have been suffering for the past seven years. Without sufficient food, water, or education, they are struggling to survive and have been ignored by the media. Seeing my own cousins live in fear in unsafe conditions and fall behind in school, I realized how much support orphans need. I turned my attention to the most overlooked victims of war - children.


As the Syrian War continues through its seventh year, peace seems far off in the future. Since the start of the war, half of the Syrian population, nearly 11 million, have been killed or forced to leave their homes and more than 100,000 children have been made orphans. These orphans have lost everything -parents, family, safety, food and water, and education. They need our help to survive through the war and create a future for themselves.

With your donations, I will be sponsoring an orphan through Islamic Relief USA, a non profit organization providing aid through food, clean water, healthcare, and education to over 38 countries. For the past 25 years, their mission and values of social justice, sincerity, excellence, custodianship, and compassion have helped them in their efforts to end world poverty. This past year alone, they provided 2.5 million pounds of food through their Ramadan Food Packages, feeding thousands of hungry families across the globe.


Your donations will go to sponsoring a Syrian Refugee Orphan through IRUSA’s orphan sponsorship program. For only $780, an orphan will be provided medical and psychological help, food, clothing, or education according to their needs for an entire year. The program supports the orphan in the necessary ways, guaranteeing a stable foundation for them to grow from. Over the next 30 days, I will be collecting the $780 to help create a future for a Syrian orphan. Please help make a difference in an orphan’s life by giving them a brighter future.
