raised of $10,000 USD goal
We are trying to raise $10,000 to establish a full service commercial kitchen for the San Francisco Muslim Community Center (SFMCC). Located in the Excelsior District of San Francisco, the SFMCC represents over 250 families that live, pray, work, and attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, the SFMCC helps distribute food to the needy twice a month and we're asking for your help to extend our reach to more people through the addition of the kitchen facility.
Currently, the SFMCC has limited resources -- a small sink, stove and refrigerator -- which translates into serving meals only on Fridays. However, with the new kitchen facility, we would be able to accommodate a 100 people daily. Ultimately, your contributions to help establish a new kitchen facility will result in the following benefits Insha'Allah:
"And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive" (Quran 76:8)
All the funds will go towards building the kitchen (material, labor, plumbing, tile flooring, installing drains, hood ventilation, electrical outlets etc.,) so that we can expand our facility to better serve and accommodate the community and the needy.
"Imam Abu Qadir Al Amin [Imam of SFMCC] has been actively involved in building relationships with various interfaith leaders from the last 30 years. I have learned a lot from his experience and knowledge of Islam." - Iftekhar Hai (President, UMA Interfaith Alliance)
“I always felt that I belonged to the San Francisco Muslim Community Center because its culture is open to everyone regardless of your ethnic background, national origin, or even level of religious practice. It didn’t matter to the imam or the community; you are just made to feel like you belong there which is why I love this community. It’s also one of the few important centers in the heart of San Francisco.” - Maha Elgenaidi (ING CEO)
"I had been looking for a mosque to call my own when I moved to San Francisco, and I found that at the MCC. What struck me most about this community center was that Imam Abu-Qadir made every single congregant feel welcome. He always made a point to come to the back part of the room and greet all of us women, which was something I had never experienced before. Imam Abu-Qadir made it clear that this place was for us too--that everyone was welcome with open arms. Under his leadership, this mosque has thrived as a place where we focus on the blessings we have and the strong bonds we build in brother and sisterhood." - Fatima Khan (Media and political strategist)
