We owe everything to the Mercy of Allah and the dedication of our predecessors' generation to establishing the houses of worship and Muslim organizations that we see across this great nation. It is now up to us to take the blessings which have passed on to us, and make something better from that.

Tarbiyah Academy started with the dreams and ambitions of a group of home-schooling parents in Maryland who wanted better for their children. They wanted the purity of learning and teaching in a loving and supportive atmosphere, led by their children’s natural inquisitiveness and fitra; combined with the social benefits of collaborative learning and oversight by trained professionals in a world-class system of education. We have now grown to a Board of Directors with ties to Howard County, Maryland, and are committed to opening one of the finest Islamic Schools in the nation.

The aim of International Baccalaureate is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. The founding board of Tarbiyah chose the IB model of education as it is most in tune with classical Islamic educational principles and shares many values with modern Muslim-American families.

The Tarbiyah Difference

We plan to open a 9,000 sq ft facility in Howard County, Maryland, which will be a completely renovated rental facility ready to open in September 2015 insha'Allah. We have hired an extremely qualified and known Muslim educator (Rasha El-Haggan; founder DC-MIST program) to lead this effort as Head of School.

We have over 100 interested students and over 50 families who have pre-registered for this fall, and we NEED YOUR SUPPORT to make Tarbiyah Academy a reality. Our professional plan will insha'Allah make a self-sustaining model of growth and financial stability after the first year of operation, and we are looking for the generosity of the community to raise our start up costs as a Sadaqah Jariyah.
