The Hartford Hurricanes are a non-profit Pop Warner youth football team based in Hartford, Connecticut. The team, coached by my nephew, Stephen Brownlee, draws its players from impoverished areas of Hartford and New Britain, Connecticut. Football provides these young men with an alternative to the streets and in many instances an alternative family.

This year's squad has earned the right to play in the Pop Warner National Championship tournament in Orlando, Florida, however, they do not have the financial means to make the journey. Making things much more challenging for them, much of their equipment was also destroyed in a fire.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their support with this campaign. The team was able to travel to Orlando with 18 players. This campaign allowed seven players to go. Without it, they would not have had any reserve players. They won their national quarter-final game but lost in the semi-finals. It was a great experience, and the young men greatly appreciate the support they received from the Muslim community. If you knew how much, it would bring tears to your eyes. Barakallahu fikum!
