A photography book intends to serve as an informative guide to Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Significance of Al Aqsa Mosque

Al Aqsa Mosque is the place where the Night Journey (Al-Isra’ wa Al-Mi’raj), took place.It was the first Qibla where Muslims turned for their prayers for 16 months until they were ordered to turn towards Al-Ka’aba.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered one out of three restricted destinations to which Muslims travel in pilgrimage.

It provides background information to the landmarks, including the mosques, domes, minarets & arched gates. It reflects the Palestinian narrative in response to the various attempts to falsify the historical and religious facts of this holy site.

Self-Publishing this Book

The book will contain over 100 photographs taken of the Al Aqsa Mosque during the last four years. The text will be in English and Arabic. It is Softcover Photography Book with Dimensions of 24 CM x 21 CM. The Photography book will have 144 Full color pages.

The photography book will be self-published and I will be making all editorial and business decisions. The Photography book will be printed in Palestine so we can support the local communities in Palestine.

The Funds raised successfully will be used for Graphic Design, Printing of 1,000 copies of the book and Distribution expenses. 

This is a book for anyone thinking, planning or even just dreaming of visiting the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. This is a pictorial diary of the landmarks with detailed captions telling the importance of the landmark behind the images.

About Munir

Munir Alawi, a keen photographer, documentarian, historian, and digital artist, was born in Bethlehem, Palestine. Photography began as a hobby when he first encountered the extraordinary facets of life in his country Palestine. He realized there was very little documented about the Islamic arts in Palestine and began photographing and collating a vast library of these Islamic arts images. Munir interested in creating a global awareness of Palestine’s Islamic arts and documenting these Islamic Arts for future generations
