17 MILLION IN YEMEN FACE FAMINE

$30 provides one month's food for a family

As we approach the end of the Islamic Calendar with two of the major celebratory Holidays, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, millions in Yemen can't afford a meal a day. On June 22, 2017 CNN report on Yemen stated "hunger will be the biggest killer. A staggering 17 million people are suffering from severe food insecurity; 7 million are severely food insecure. By the end of the year, Yemen will be in a state of full blown famine."

Two Eids in the Land of the Less Fortunate

Today, right now, the largest ongoing humanitarian crisis in the world is in Yemen. A catastrophe of epic proportions is afflicting almost 19 million people, 2/3 of the population. More than 10 million people are at risk of severe malnutrition. 7 million children, women and men are at risk of imminent starvation. 3 million are displaced from their homes.

What We're Doing in Yemen

In Ramadan, all funds raised were used to provide food baskets for 1000 families in need. Since the war started in Yemen in 2015, we have provided thousands of families with meals and hundreds of people with blankets during the winter. With your help, we’ve supplied hundreds of school children with school bags and uniforms and hundreds of children with new Eid clothes.

Reaching the Neediest

Through our network of local volunteers, we are able to reach needy families not only in urban areas, but also remote villages and refugee camps. There are now an estimated 3.1 million people who fled their homes and many are now living in makeshift shelters in Yemen for the relative safety of these camps.

How You Can Help

A $30 donation will feed an entire family for the month. This buys basic essential food items including flour, rice, sugar, oil and milk. 100% of your donation goes to feeding hungry families and is matched by generous benefactors in Yemen.

As you prepare to celebrate the two Eids, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid-Aldha and some may prepare to go to Hajj, please remember your Yemeni sisters and brothers and donate what you can. If you can't make a financial donation please share this appeal with your friends, family and networks.

Thank you for supporting our efforts in Yemen

Salaam/Peace friends,

We also want to share with you other good news from Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, https://yemenfoundation.org/ that your generosity helped us establish.

We are delighted to share with you that we have reached about 110,000 people in Yemen with food rations that sustain them for one month in 2018.  All the funds donated were used to provide much needed food, school bags and supplies and warm clothing to the most in need.  Our volunteers at Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, reached the most inaccessible areas of Yemen.  Our teams traveled up to 16 hours to reach the most difficult places where no one else had provided aid.

I am happy to share the most recent photos of food baskets distributed to 300 families in Aslim, Hajjah, whose children are hospitalized for severe malnutrition.  This area borders Saudi Arabia and is not accessible to most aid agencies.  However, because we work with Yemeni volunteers, we were able to be there and act in your behalf in delivering aid.

Between Thanksgiving and Today, we distributed food baskets to 1400 families and provided internally displaced children with school bags and supplies and provided shelter for the space they are using to attain their education, picture attached.  I was informed that the children and the community were very happy.

On Behalf of the people who received relief services, we wish to extend our gratitude for your support and wish you, your families and loved ones a happy and prosperous New Year.

Another Save-a-life campaign

Hello all,

Because of the success of our first campaign, and due to the increased needs in Yemen, we established a foundation, Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation. and to continue supporting needy families in Yemen, we have started another campaign that we hope that you will support.

Since we started in Ramadan, we have distributed over 3500 food baskets feeding about 17500 persons covering wide geographic areas and areas that are hard to reach.  In some places, our volunteers had to walk the last 25 kilometers to reach the villages.

Please consider supporting this campaign and sharing it with family and friends.

Help Send Yemeni Children Back to School

Dear Friend,

As a contributor to our LaunchGood campaign Feed a Family in Yemen, you may be interested in our current efforts to aid Yemeni children's education, Help Yemeni Children Go Back to School. As back-to-school season starts in Yemen, families who are already facing unimaginable challenges in their everyday lives struggle to provide their children the the items needed to attend school. As in our previous campaign, local volunteers in Yemen distribute the needed goods, so your donation goes directly to purchasing backpacks, school supplies and other necessities. Please consider donating whatever you can to ease these families' burdens. And sharing our campaign on social media and with your friends and family allows us to reach even more children. Thank you!

Blessings to you and your loved ones,
Samia, Aisha and Tracy

A Blessed Eid in Yemen

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your donations for Eid al-Adha. Through your generosity and matching gifts from benefactors in Yemen, our Save a Life in Yemen campaign was blessed to provide Zabiha meat to over 800 families for the Eid holiday. We are currently seeking donations to replenish funds used to provide Udhiya during the first two days of Eid, as prescribed. We are grateful as friends like you continue to share our campaign with their networks. We still have a week remaining to give others the opportunity to donate. Thank you for remembering our Yemeni brothers and sisters this Eid. Here are some pictures from the distribution of Zabiha meat this weekend:

Sharing the gifts of Eid al-Adha

Dear Friends,

As our Save a Life in Yemen campaign winds down, we find ourselves humbled by the generosity of everyone involved. Through the kindness of our donors, the diligent efforts of our volunteers in Yemen, and the Grace of God, our campaign has distributed over 2400 food baskets to hungry families, benefitting over 13,200 people. However, our work continues. We have been purchasing animals to distribute Zabiha meat for the Eid al-Adha holiday, so that families may celebrate and receive desperately needed protein. A benefactor in Yemen has agreed to match donations for Zabiha meat dollar for dollar, so your donation goes even farther. As we prepare for the Eid holiday, let us not forget our Yemeni brothers and sisters. Please share our campaign with your friends, family, and on your social networks. Thank you and Eid Mubarak!

Thank you

Thank you for your generosity. We started this campaign with a modest goal of raising $6,000.00 and you gave us almost 10 times that providing food baskets for 1800 families with over 10,000 members. "Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it, and whoever brings an evil deed, he shall be recompensed only with the like of it, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly." Quran 6:160.
We plan to distribute Zabiha/Qurban if you wish to contribute to that.
Thank you again for your generous contributions.

Eid Al-Adha, Feast of the Sacrifice Donations

Dear Generous donors,

God’s Peace and Blessing upon you,

As we prepare for Hajj and Eid Al-Adha, Feast of the Sacrifice, many will be preparing for Qurban/Zabiha or alternatively giving to the needy as the Quran states: “It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches God: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify God for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do Good.”  Al-Hajj 22:37

Sacrifice is to willingly give something of value to us to support others who are less fortunate.  There are many people in need in Yemen now who can’t afford a meal a day, may we suggest that you contribute to a greater good, donate the amount of money used for Zabiha/Qurban, be meet poor people’s urgent needs of a meal for their families. You will be saving families from severe malnutrition and death.  If your preference is for animal  sacrifice, please specify that, we will give vouchers to families to allow them to purchase live sheep and make the sacrifice.

We continue to distribute food baskets  To date, we have distributed baskets to over 1400 families with over 7000 members. Please continue to share this campaign with family and friends..

Thank you for your contributions and generosity.  Your charity is loved by God as stated in the Holy Quran: “Be Charitable As  God loves the Charitable” (Quran 2:195).

You did it! 1000 families received Food Baskets this Ramadan

Al-Salaam Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

As Eid approaches, we want to share with you Happy News. Because of your generosity, by end of Saturday in Yemen, we reached our goal and distribute food baskets to1000 families.  The last 150 families also received sweets for Eid.

You demonstrated piety and love and walked the path prescribed in the Holy Quran:

“It is not piety, that you turn your faces to the East and to the West. True piety is this: to believe in God, and the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the Prophets, to give of one's substance, however cherished, to kinsmen, and orphans, the needy the traveler, beggars, and to ransom the slave.”

Thank you on behalf of the 1000 families whom you supported.  We know that their Doua for you was sincereas you alleviated a severe hardship.  Atleast for a month, they have substance.

May God accept your good deeds and bring you peace and happiness that your contributions bestowed on those in need. We wish you a blessed and happy Eid.

Please find attached some pictures of food distributions.

We will continue to raise funds after Ramadan to help as many families as wecan.

Gratefully yours,
Samia, Tracy and Aisha

Your contributions reached 850 families with Food Baskets; we can reach 1000

Al-Salaam Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

As we near the end the Holy month of Ramadan with only three days remaining in the month of Mercy and Peace, we would like to update you on your generous donations to provide food baskets for families in Yemen.  We have provided 850 families with baskets that would provide each family meals for 30 days. This is more than 4 times the number of baskets we anticipated when we started.  Your generosity brought peace of mind to families who were struggling to find a meal a day.  May your Mercy be rewarded.

We are blessed to be part of this charitable community, the Prophet (SAAW)said whoever gives food to a fasting person to Break Fast shall have the same reward as the fasting person.  We are hopeful now that by the end of Ramadan, we can reach 1000 families.  Please help us reach the goal by donating or sharing the campaign with family and friends.

As the needs are great and the spirit of giving is high, we will continue to raise funds after Ramadan.

May God accept your fasting and multiply your rewards.  We wish you a blessed and happy Eid.

Thank you for your generous donations to Yemen Food Baskets

Al-Salaam Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

As we enter the last 10 blessed days of Ramadan, we would like to wish you accepted fasting and God’s reward for your contributions to provide food baskets for those most in need in Yemen.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciations for your support for providing food to poor families in Yemen. Your generous donations allowed us to purchase and deliver 600 food baskets to date. Each family received 25 kilo flours, 10 kilo rice, 10 kilo sugar and 2-liter oil.  Families with children received powdered milk and dates. The families are grateful for your support and are making Doua for you.

Our goal is to purchase 500 additional baskets by the end of this holy month.  These last 10 days of Ramadan are special and rewards are maximized. Please consider alleviating hunger for a family by additional donation or by sharing the campaign with your family and friends.  Prophet Mohamed, (SAAWS) said, “those who show others the paths to goods deeds are like those who performed the good deeds.”  We hope that you will be able help us reach our goal.

Jazakum Allah Khair for your support.

 Gratefully yours,

Samia, Tracy and Aisha
