Offering an online donation solution simply provides yet another way for the community to give, and doesn’t mean that people won’t write checks or offer cash. With an option to give digitally, community members are free to give how they want, when they want. The money given digitally through a giving software is transferred directly into the mosques account and is automatically recorded as a transaction. Physical money, on the other hand, is more vulnerable to getting lost or forgotten and isn’t as nearly as secure. Online donation streamlines giving and reduces human fallibility.

Also helping donations stay local and domestic within Australia. Mosques will increase in collecting donations, cutting down the management and accounting time, provide analytics and greater insight into its community members allowing them to make data-driven decisions and thus increase community engagement.

PayPal or other payment gateways are fantastic, but they are not built to meet the specific needs of our Mosques. With Up Pay, you will be able to get a mobile app, text giving, web giving, QR giving, and administrative tools. Plus, all the data will be able to sync directly with your management platform that mosques will use. These are all things that mosques don’t get with PayPal and the likes. With the current climate of things, some mosques today offer some form of online giving. This is a recent change. Mosques have historically been more hesitant than corporations or nonprofits to adopt new technology. This product will automate giving and synchronise mosque donations with the post-pandemic realities of our times.

Up Pay has had an exciting 8 months since its inception. Officially launching as a business in April, Up Pay spent its first three months conducting market research, building a proof of concept, and launching a pilot project. 

The Pilot was successfully launched in Ramadan 2020, and through it, we were able to raise $190,00 across two community centres in Sydney for a community centre. After completing market research, building, and successfully launching a pilot project, we commenced the development of the giving platform.

Development commenced in August, at which point we also put together a team of 15 people, including students, interns, ex CIO's and various committed individuals who were looking to make a difference. Our first product is now ready (which we refer to as rocket) and we are looking to officially launch it to 10 customers (Mosques) across Sydney on the 1st of December Inshallah.

We are looking to scale the solution globally. With Mosques across Asia, North America, and Europe, Up Pay is intending to serve mosques globally with headquarters based in Sydney, Australia.
