Dua for Palestine and Gaza

By Yusuf Jaffar

4 min read

As Muslims, we understand the power of dua, especially for our brothers and sisters in Palestine. This guide offers powerful duas in English to seek Allah’s peace and protection for them.

Making sincere dua is one way we can support them and seek Allah’s mercy for peace and protection.

And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.' Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible. (Surah Ghafir, 40:60).

This verse highlights not only the encouragement for believers to make dua but also serves as a reminder of the consequences for not believing in its power.

How to make dua for Palestine?

As Muslims, making dua is not just a personal prayer. Our duty is to call on Allah, especially during times of injustice and suffering. When we pray for Palestine, we recognize our duty to support the oppressed and ask for help from above.

Our responsibility is to:

-Stand with the oppress

-To speak out against injustice

-To show our faith in our creator

-To take action in any form when the Ummah is suffering.

Are there any specific times of the day that are more suitable for making dua?

There are several specific times considered powerful for making dua, which can be particularly meaningful when praying for Palestine:

Last Third of the Night: This is a highly recommended time for dua, as Allah descends to the lowest heaven and responds to supplications.

Between Adhan and Iqamah: The time between the call to prayer and the commencement of prayer is a moment when duas are not rejected.

During Sujood (Prostration): While in sujood, one is closest to Allah, making it an ideal time for supplication.

On Fridays: There is a special hour on Friday when prayers are accepted, often believed to be the last hour after Asr before Maghrib.

When It Rains: Rain is a time when Allah’s mercy descends, making it favorable for dua.

While Fasting: The supplication made by a person while they are fasting, particularly before breaking the fast, is highly regarded. This period combines the state of fasting with humility and beseeching Allah, making it a powerful time for dua.

However, please note that there are no restrictions on making dua; it is a personal act between you and Allah. These are just suggested times, but if you feel like making dua, you can do so at any time. Allah is indeed closer than our jugular vein, and the help of Allah is always near.

Can we make dua for Palestine in english?

Yes, absolutely. The only area of debate currently is offering duas in other languages during prayer.

Sincerity matters: The most important part of dua is your sincerity and intention.

Use your own words: You can make dua in whatever words come from your heart. If you're more comfortable with English, there’s no requirement to use Arabic.

Specific duas: While many traditional duas are in Arabic, you can recite English translations. For example: "O Allah, help and protect the people of Palestine. O Allah, ease their pain and suffering. O Allah, assist those in need."

Quranic supplications: You can use English translations of Qur'anic duas. For example, say: "Our Lord! Give them strength, make their steps steady, and help them win over those who do not believe." (Qur'an 2:250)

Comprehensive prayers: You can offer detailed duas for specific concerns. For example, say: "O Allah, protect the Palestinian people from oppression. Ease their hardships and give them safety and justice."

Take action: In addition to making dua, remember to take practical steps. Support the Palestinian cause in any way you can.

Some scholars are of the opinion that you cannot make dua in English especially during the Fard prayers. Please follow the opinion you are most comfortable with. Read more here

Remember, Allah understands all languages. What matters most is the sincerity of your heart and your connection with Allah when making your supplication.
