In early November 2023, a heartbreaking report emerged from Amuma District, Yahukimo, Papua Pegunungan Province, Indonesia—23 souls lost to hunger (bbc.com).

From the years 2005 to 2023, the toll of lives claimed by hunger has reached a staggering 190. Famine is not just a momentary event but an ongoing crisis.

Various factors contribute to this crisis—from extreme weather leading to crop failure, and disrupted agricultural systems, to unending conflicts. In Yahukimo District, approximately 12,000 lives now linger in the shadow of famine (kompas.id). Now, our brothers and sisters, need our help.
