2024 will be our 5th annual Ramadan Food Hamper Program. Since 2019, Ottawa Muslim Community Services have partnered with different agencies across the Ottawa area to help support families in need throughout the National Capital Region with Ramdan food preparation. Since the inception of this project and with your donations, over 850 families have been supported during the Month of Ramadan.
This year our target is to support 400 registered families with a food hamper - many of whom are newcomers and refugees living in poverty. In Partnership with HCI, Boys and Girls Club, Britannia Woods and the Provincial Youth Outreach Team, and collaboration with Tarbiyah Learning Academy, Abraar Secondary school and Al Furqan school - we have been able to meet ¾ of our target. We are looking to reach our full target of 400 with your donations.
With the ongoing rise in food costs and the increased price of living many more people are struggling to put food on their tables. Our hope is to help families prepare for Ramadan by providing Ramadan food hampers consisting of the following items:
Tea
Basmati rice
Canola oil
Sugar
Potato
Onion
Garlic bundle
Apples
Oranges
Cereal
Dates
Pasta and pasta sauce
lentils and chickpeas
