Clubfoot birth defect ; Is taken as a curse, or cause of evil spirit in children, by many families in Africa, parents of the victims prefer to leave them stay at home, since going out of their homes alone is a shame and its treatment is rear in these remote areas, of the 7 families that brought their children for consultation at our organization, 5 are of school going age but unfortunately only 2 are in school, as Abdul Karim Mudaing 12 told us ‘I have been through numerous painful experiences, including being taken to school at a later age after intervention by a village elder, being kicked by other children in the village and at school, arriving at school later everyday as he can’t catch up with other children’s passé and referred to as a goat as he cried and crawled to safety. So as we fight to correct their feet, we have to look at their education needs as we carry on, this is no mean project, but with the help of you and other agencies their dreams may come true one day as any other child in the world.

Treatment is for:

1.    Osteotomy surgery (Achilles Repair and Brostrum Ligament Reconstruction)

2.     Ponseti treatment

3.    Setting up of a clubfoot treatment section in Bukedea Hospital
