Your generosity helped us establish Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation!

We are delighted to share with you that we have reached about 110,000 people in Yemen with food rations that sustain them for one month in 2018.  All the funds donated were used to provide much needed food, school bags and supplies and warm clothing to the most in need.  Our volunteers at Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, reached the most inaccessible areas of Yemen.  Our teams traveled up to 16 hours to reach the most difficult places where no one else had provided aid.  

We are happy to share the most recent photos of food baskets distributed to 300 families in Aslim, Hajjah, whose children are hospitalized for severe malnutrition.  This area borders Saudi Arabia and is not accessible to most aid agencies.  However, because we work with Yemeni volunteers, we were able to be there and act in your behalf in delivering aid.  

Between Thanksgiving and Today, we distributed food baskets to 1400 families and provided internally displaced children with school bags and supplies and provided shelter for the space they are using to attain their education, picture attached.  I was informed that the children and the community were very happy.

We are in the last days of our campaign for Yemen.  When we think that things can not get worse, they somehow do.  

A recent fighting n Hodeidah has displaced thousands of families.  With your support, we were able to purchase 500 emergency food baskets to be distributed to displaced families this coming Saturday.  These emergency baskets contain 5 kilograms of flour, 5 kilograms of rice, 2 kilograms of lentils, 2 kilograms of sugar and 2 liters of cooking oil.  We have also been blessed by donations from our supporters to purchase 200 mattresses, pillows and covers for the displaced housed in schools.  Our aim is to support 2000 families with the emergency food baskets; each food basket costs just $12.  Please help us reach our goal.  As with all our work, all the logistics and the transportations cost will be paid for by our supporters in Yemen.  Your donations will only be used for the purchase of the food baskets.

We are delighted to share with you that we distributed food baskets to 1440 families this Ramadan feeding over 10,000 people for a month.  Thank you and many of our donors for making this possible and for ensuring that many families in Yemen had a secured source of food for this holy month.  

Our last distributions were in Hodeidah, Almahweet, Hajjah, Dhamar and in Sana'a (needy families of children with cancer).  Please pray for the people of Yemen and that peace prevails.

It is with a blessed heart that we share with you our updates from Yemen.  Subhan Allah, we have been able to reach 1150 families with food baskets feeding over 8000 individuals for a whole moth since the beginning of Ramadan; that is worth $40,250.  We have also committed to 285 more baskets that we will be distributed in the next few days before the end of Ramadan.  This would not have happened without your generous donations and donations of others in our community.  Your reward with God is multiplied, as the verse below indicates. 

إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ

“Verily those who give alms – be they men or women, -and give Allah a beautiful loan shall be repaid after increasing it many times; and theirs shall be a generous reward.” (Qs. Al Hadid/The Iron: 18)

As we enter the last few days of the holy month of Ramadan, we wanted to update you on our campaign to feed Yemeni families this month. As you know, this is the fourth Ramadan where our brothers and sisters in Yemen are fasting under extremely dire circumstances—ongoing conflict, displacement from home and livelihood, food scarcity and disease outbreak. A staggering 21 million Yemenis now face famine in this tragic humanitarian disaster. 

Last year our campaign on LaunchGood to bring food relief to hungry Yemeni families had a modest goal of $6,000. Through the grace of God and because of the compassion and generosity of donors like you, contributions far exceeded our expectations, allowing us to provide over $60,000 of food aid. As a result of this momentum, we established Yemen Relief and Reconstruction (YRRF) to further our mission of distributing relief to the neediest in Yemen. YRRF is entirely run by volunteers in the US and Yemen. All funds are collected either through efforts like our LaunchGood campaign or from matching contributions from our foundation members. Food aid is distributed by Yemeni volunteers who are conscious of the cultural sensitivities needed to do this work in a respectful, caring way. These dedicated individuals are committed to bringing aid wherever it is needed, from remote villages to urban enclaves of internally displaced people.

Since the start of Ramadan this year we have distributed over 640 food baskets to the neediest Yemenis, which reflects donations through the crowdfunding campaign and matching donations from YRRF. Please consider supporting our continuing efforts however you are able. Every donation goes towards putting food in the hands of people who desperately need it. And by sharing this email and spreading the word of the plight of our Yemeni brothers and sisters, you can share the blessing of giving during this season with friends and family.

Dear donors,

We are grateful for your overwhelming support to feed those in need this Ramadan in Yemen.  Your actions are consistent with the teaching of mercy and love prescribed in the holy Quran: I

“And they are those who give food – in spite of their own need , to the needy, and the orphan,  and the captive, [saying in their hearts],’We only feed you for the sake of God, and we desire nothing in return from you, not even a word of thanks’’”  (76:8-9).

Because of your donation, we were able to reach 350 families with food that sustains a family for a month for a total of 2450 persons.  Today, we distributed 50 food baskets in Sana'a city. Please see pictures below.

We are very pleased to share with you an update of the food baskets distribution in Yemen. Since beginning of Ramadan, we have distributed 100 food baskets in Sana'a, 50 in Taiz and 60 will be distributed this weekend in Aden.  This is enough to feed 1470 individuals  for the whole blessed month of Ramadan.
