Before The purchase of Tennyson Road, Alhamdulillaah Azhar Acadmey had very little debt but this purchase in Sep 2021 has brought Azhar Academy into the red as we had to raise, majority amount through Qardha Hasanah loans, and spend approximately £4million+ to purchase and refurbish and develop this Tennyson Road campus to a proper and reasonable standard. Further to the Tennyson Road purchase and redevelopment, another important purchase happened for £500k in Aug 2024 which was an absolute necessary and strategic purchase as it was immediately next door to our primary school site sharing a “right of way”. Suddenly due to these significant and necessary purchases our financial situation has indeed become extremely burdensome.  Despite a total expenditure of approximately £4.5+ Million total costs for the 2 sites, we require only £2million + to become free from all debts. We urgently need to raise this amount ASAP to pay off immediately after Ramadhan. Please kindly support and assist us!

Alhamdulillah since 1996, under the instruction and guidance of Shaykh al-Hadith Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Motala (Rahmatullah Alayh) the Azhar Academy has been striving to provide a high quality of Islamic and educational services as well as a range of other charitable activities. Our purpose is to continue his legacy and vision for the provision of our core services. 

Alhamdulillah the past few years have seen the efforts of the staff and pupils at the Azhar Academy recognised, particularly with our Ofsted Outstanding rating in March 2022 and the move into the Former Newham College F-Block taking place in March 2023. Having purchased the site in September 2021 for £2.7million, despite the guide price being in excess of £3.5million and the vendors receiving offers in this region, we were keen to move quickly to take advantage of the wonderful space. We completed the essential renovation and maintenance works to the value in excess of £1 million and just 18 months after completion, the AAGS operation transferred to the new building, with some work still currently ongoing. However, despite the significant increase in capacity, the Azhar Academy Girls School continues to have more applicants than spaces. The same is true for the Azhar Academy Primary School Alhamdulillah; it would be no exaggeration to say we could open a new primary school tomorrow and the capacity would be filled immediately. 

With the work which has been undertaken to purchase and renovate the Tennyson Road site, the charity is currently significantly constrained in expanding its charitable growth and activities, due to the outstanding Qardah Hasanah debts. We are very much aware of the needs our community faces, including the desperate need for the provision of a Boys Secondary School, the expansion of our Primary School and Nursery, developing a community space at the Tennyson Road site and improving the playing facilities at our current primary school site, however, we simply cannot proceed with these activities until the financial burden on the charity is eased. 

We humbly urge you to support us to embark on these noble, blessed and important projects, which ultimately culminate in protecting the Imaan and future of our children. Your support now will be a Sadaqah Jaariyah for you for the rest of time inshaAllah; for each child that learns, studies and serves the Ummah, you write yourself a portion of the reward, it is most definitely an open chequebook, particularly with the mercy of Allah.

The projects we wish to undertake soon are:
1) Finding a suitable site for and opening a Boys Secondary School
2) Conducting roof repairs on the Tennyson Road site which will be combined with the creation of a new floor and large school / community hall
3) Building a new floor on top of the newly erected Hall building at the Primary School
4) Creating better playing facilities at the Primary School site by installing Astro Turf in the playground and creating a new rooftop play area
