I am taking part in the MyMadrasa Challenge to raise funds for Darul-Ilm Chatham.

Alhamdulillah by the Grace of Allah, Darul-Ilm Chatham which once started out as a class of 6 young students in our very own Ustadh Didar’s house has now flourished into a fully fledged institute. Providing core Islamic education in our Maktab to over 200 children, Islamic courses for adults catering from Basic to Advanced levels and a range of community events from youth tournaments to spirituality sessions.

We now need your help to keep Darul-Ilm running and reach new heights. Yes, our objective isn’t the mere bricks and buildings, our core value is to build a strong community and provide for the spiritual and educational needs of the community.

We have been increasing our work in islamic education and community, however this is all at a cost. We now need the full support of the community to continue and also expand. We are asking for your help to cover our costs so we can improve our facilities and ability to engage with the community. Your donation contribute towards:

• Being in a financial position to be able to increase the quality of our education
• Basic running costs for Darul-ilm (we do not receive public funding)
• Student financial hardship fund
• Fund community growth initiatives such as our weekly halaqas
• Funds available to spend on students such as awards ceremonies, food events etc.

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing” (Surah Baqarah, 261)

Background 

Darul-Ilm Chatham was first established in 2016 as a small maktab providing fundamental Islamic education to a class of 6 young students from Ustad Didar’s house. Over the years, by the grace and blessings of Allah and the support of the local community, Darul-Ilm grew rapidly taking on more students, teachers and providing additional community events and outreach services, eventually relocating to Chatham Hill Mosque & Kent Islamic Centre in 2022 where Ustad Didar took up the position of Head Imam. Alhamdulillah Darul-Ilm grew into a well developed, trusted, educational institute hosting even more services such as community events, charity events and adult’s classes. The  maktab grew to accommodate over 200 students aged 5-18 across evenings and weekends with a team of 10 teachers.

Our vision at Darul-ilm & CHM is to emerge as the central Islamic center, dedicated to serving the Medway community by addressing the diverse educational and spiritual needs of all segments. We are committed to achieving this vision through active mosque engagement, structured educational initiatives, nurturing programs, weekly halaqas, monthly family events, and by fostering a warm environment for continuous spiritual growth.”
