OUR MISSION: "To develop in each student a healthy respect for the ever presence of Allah, and respect for His creation."
So, what's our story? Al-Ikhlas Training Academy first opened its doors in 1991. During that year alone, 130 students enrolled in the school. With just four senior students, the first graduating class was the class of 1993. Today, twenty-five graduating classes later, ATA celebrates 25 years of excellent urban Islamic education. More than your average school, Al-Ikhlas brings together students from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and socio-economic statuses under the same roof. Together, we provide students with the tools and resources for success beyond ATA, build healthy intergenerational relationships, and set the stage for community activism. Help us sustain this fostering environment with your generous donation!
Al-Ikhlas Training Academy works to instill within its students a healthy sense of God-consciousness and purposefulness through establishing a safe space for spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social growth. As an Islamic school, we work to make students conscious of the fact that we are living in the dunya (lower life), while longing for the akhirah (hereafter).
"It's hard to put into words the impact that ATA has had on me in terms of Deen. But one impact that I feel has played a huge role is being able to practice religion freely. Praying Salah everyday and having Islamic studies implemented in almost every class gave me a sense of confidence in my Deen that many outside of ATA don't have." Hanzala Hafiz, Class of 2016
"I was only able to spend a few months with the students at ATA in 2013-14, but what still stands out to me most is the sincerity of everyone I interacted with at that time. The teachers and staff at ATA had such a sincere love for the students, and such a sincere desire to connect them to Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ, that I could feel it permeate into the students and throughout the culture of the school." Khurrum Wani, ATA Supporter
"Al-Ikhlas is a great beacon of light for the city of Detroit. The teachers and staff perform miracles every year, stretching their limited financial resources and filling the school with their love, sacrifice and passion. I have visited schools all over the country and it is not exaggeration that the most impressive group I ever met were from Al-Ikhlas Academy. Support them generously!" Saad Omar, ATA Supporter
"AI-Ikhlas has been the best experience for me. If I didn't attend ATA, I think I would be on a different path. I learned so much from ATA: Religion, respect, and met so many amazing people. I met my first Somali, Palestinian, and Sudanese friends. We all became a family. I love ATA; thanks for really bringing me back to Islam." Juhi Chowdhury, Class of 2008.
"I always say that ATA gave me my foundation on which I stand. We always started the day and every class with Du’a. With this, it was instilled in me that whatever you do, you always start with Allah’s name. Go out and explore the world, but always with Allah’s name first. With any obstacle that came/comes my way, I raise my hands to Allah and He makes it easy for me, sometimes instantaneously." Suraiya Azom, M.D., Class of 2002
Private schools do not get governmental funding. Al-Ikhlas is a religious private school, which means we do not get state of governmental funding. The vast majority of our financial needs as an institution are made possible by tuition and donations. The donations that you make today and have been making are what have and will allow our school to continue to stand.
A quality Islamic education should not only be for students who are able afford it. Al-Ikhlas opens our doors to students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. A student is not denied if his/her parent(s) are unable to afford their child’s tuition. Your donations will help us continue to provide exceptional Islamic education to those students who otherwise may not have been able to afford it.
This donation will be a continuing charity for you. The Prophet (peace be upon be him) said: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." [Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589]
