His body was full of wrinkles, a sign that he was no longer young. However, Grandma Eja (90 years old) still has to work hard to survive. In a corner of Karang Jetak Village, Ciparay Village, Cidolok District, Ciamis, West Java, there is an extraordinary figure named Nek Eja.

Grandma Eja (90 years old) is almost a century old and earns her living as a laundry worker, so she can stay alive even though she is alone. Great, huh? His enthusiasm for life remained steadfast, even though he only attended school up to grade 1 of elementary school during the colonial era.

Since her husband died decades ago, Grandma Eja has been the backbone of her family, struggling to survive the hard way. Her husband died as a result of his illness. Since then, he lives alone in the house he has lived in since 1955 in a house full of memories where he raised his four children with great struggle.

His two children are gone, while the other two are still alive, namely Mr Tohidin (53 years old, factory worker) and Mr Muchtar (67 years old, farm worker) live not far from Grandma Eja's house.

Even though his body felt tired, his voice was hoarse due to old age, and his hearing was somewhat impaired, he continued to fight, for he knew that only by great effort could he feed himself.

"Mom, I can't just rely on the children's work... The price of basic necessities is expensive... not to mention that my two children already have a family with children, I don't want to worry about it, I'd better just stay like this" said Grandma Eja quietly to us when carrying out the assessment.

Even though her children insisted on wanting Grandma Eja to live with them, Grandma Eja refused on the grounds that she did not want to bother her children. Plus, Grandma Eja's two children are already married and their economic conditions are not much better than Grandma Eja's. Instead, he doesn't want to bother and cause trouble to his children.

The low level of education of Nek Eja's two children meant that they could only work as laborers in other people's rice fields and as factory workers, where their income was still relatively small.

It's really sad to see Grandma EJa's condition, at her age when she should be enjoying her old age, he is still struggling to survive. I don't want to and don't want to bother my two children.

For him, this old house, which is worn by age and uninhabitable, is the best place to live the rest of his life. even though he often gets sick, especially sore knees and feet due to traveling around to offer laundry services.

The income that Grandma Eja gets from clothes washing services is sometimes 10-15 thousand and even if someone wants to have their clothes washed by Grandma Eja. According to him, the majority of people in his village currently have washing machines and very few people use the services of washing workers.

Her concerned children can only visit Nek Eja every day, bringing food and other necessities. Sometimes Grandma Eja occasionally visits her two children's house just to see her grandchildren.

"I really want to help my mother renovate her house so that it doesn't leak and get caught in the rain, but how about it, bro? I (Mr. Muchtar) also have a hard time earning money. My sister and I have often invited you to live with us, but my mother doesn't want to, I really don't want to leave this house." said Mr. Muchtar as the oldest child of Nek Eja

"In fact, bro, I took him by force first, but he came back here to this house, Oh my God, Mum really doesn't want to bother us children because Mum also feels sorry for us, that's how it is, bro." Continued by Mr Tohidin as the second child of Nek Eja.

Grandma Eja's two children's hopes are very simple: they want the best for their mother in her old age, so that she can live a healthy life and be able to find a comfortable place to live. And all his needs are met.

Morning, noon and night, living alone in a house that is far from decent, accompanied by only the sound of crickets and katydids every night, makes friends with loneliness. That's what Grandma Eja feels every day.

Living alone is far from feasible with the very poor condition of the house, They hope that in the future they will have a house that is suitable to live in and live happily at an age that is no longer young.

Come on, good people and generous friends, let's make the dream of Grandma Eja and the underprivileged elderly all alone come true. This is so that he has a house that is livable and can live prosperously in his old age.

Not only praying and donating, Friends can also share this fundraising page so that more people can help Grandma Eja and other poor families.
