• Improved Memory - The brain has often been compared to a muscle, because it functions better with exercise. Learning BSL involves a lot of memorising and has often been proven to improve a person's long term memory. For a child who is learning British Sign Language, they are likely to find improved performance in other academic areas. 
• Easier to Learn Another Language - The acquisition techniques you gain whilst learning British Sign Language can be applied to learning any new language. The many positive cognitive benefits can be replicated along the process of learning further languages.

We’re well underway now into Ramadan, right? The first ten days passed in a mixture of excitement and perhaps some apprehension as we got used to fasting - and a lot of sharing of advice, articles, duas, stories and notes on how to make the most of this holy month - prayers to say, lectures to listen too, Quran apps to make our reading easier.

But now the challenging part of Ramadan begins - the second ten days. These are the Days of Forgiveness.

Just because, perhaps, things didn’t go according to plan during the first ten days doesn’t mean all is lost for the second ten days and the last ten days of Ramadan. Remember, we are in the Days of Forgiveness now. It’s never too late to start afresh, to seek forgiveness. Allah (S) is waiting for us to come to Him, even if it’s well into the month.

This is a time to regroup, to renew your intentions, to dig deep and give into the uncomfortable parts of fasting - the parts which pushes us to dig deep, worship more, appreciate our blessings and reflect upon why we fast.

At the beginning of the month you did something incredible and helped us win a Ramadan Challenge day competition. Next Thursday 30th May we will be participating again to support the growth and development of our sign language app 'iSAY.'  

However, tomorrow (Thurs 23rd May) we wanted to ask for your humble generosity again to support our friends BarakahBox & QuranMoonLamp.

That awesome time of the year is upon us and we wanted to be the first to say Ramadan Kareem. We pray it is a blessed & productive month for you, full of spiritual harmony and barakah, and we make sincere dua that all your acts of worship are accepted and multiplied in rewards.

Alhamdulillah with your duas and continued support we launched our Deaf Awareness Campaign 2018 with a very special encounter with the President of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We had the honor of gifting our Islamic Sign Language Flashcards which YOU helped to create.

Our work continues to inspire and impact many across the world and we have recently launched a new campaign to create some cool new resources to benefit everyone inshaAllah.

Last year, we joined something called LaunchGood Ramadan Challenge. The concept is very cool and the challenge is simple;

1. Set a daily amount you want to give during each day of Ramadan (could be as little as $2 or £2)
2. The LaunchGood team will then automatically donate that amount on your behalf to an inspiring cause.
3. Receive email notification each day letting you know where your money was spent.

We cannot describe how fun, easy, and impactful this challenge was and last year, 15,000 people joined and raised a staggering $1.7 million AllahuAkbar! Take part in this year and reap the benefits of Auto Ajr.

Enable us to create engaging new video tutorials to teach key Islamic vocabularly terms and phrases in Sign Language. The ajr (reward) will be immense as these interactive videos will be utilised by parents, families, schools/homeschoolers/scouts etc and will assist members of both the deaf and hearing community.

Sounds awesome right? InshaAllah with your humble support we intend to translate some essential daily duas  and make them accessible in a BSL friendly format to help those with hearing impairments have a more meaningful connection with Allah.

We all strive for spiritual transformation and aim to become the best version of ourselves. We take inspiration from the best of mankind our beloved Prophet (PBUH) and his sayings (hadith).

Empower the deaf muslim community by supporting the translation of carefully selected hadith into BSL. These meaningful hadith will be accompanied by short explanations to highlights the practical significance in our lives.

"A deaf person is twice as likely to experience anxiety, stress and suffer from depression as a result of social isolation and communication barriers growing up." (World Health Organisation)

We want to bridge the communication gap by creating new animations of Islamic signs and conversational signs that will help improve everyday interactions of deaf Muslims and the wider public. These unique animations will be made available via our exclusive app which is currently in development.

We want to make as much noise possible this Ramadan to raise Deaf Awareness through a dedicated social media campaign and series of workshops and assemblies with schools, scouts and other educational institutions. Help us inspire the next generation and empower the wider community.

Alhamdulillah we didn’t share an end of year review with you all but we can certainly can say with your continued duas and support we had positive closure to 2017 mashaAllah. The humble journey at the end of this email is a small testament of what YOU helped to facilitate.

Moving into 2018 we are just as busy with many more Deaf Awareness workshops in Schools and Scouts groups. Alhamdulillah through each visit we are receiving overwhelming feedback and helping scouts across UK achieve their Disability Awareness Badge as well as their Communicator Badge.

This a quick update to let you know what we have done recently with your humble donations. We have had a busy summer of events visiting different communities across UK and have been sharing our adventures on our Instagram.

Our exclusive first book the “A-Z of Islamic Signs in BSL” is selling steadily alhamdulillah and beginning to appear in many bookshops globally with your duas and support.

Our next challenge is to make sure that our books reach as many Deaf Muslims globally as possible. Thus, if you hold a position of responsibility or know someone in a library, primary/secondary school, community centre, mosque, a local circle/halaqah group or evening/weekend madrasah please email us on info@aminyasmin.com so that together we can increase the impact in the Ummah!

Alhamdulillah our much anticipated flashcards have finally arrived and we sincerely apologise to those who pre-ordered and have been patiently waiting. We can confirm that they have been posted out and should be with you in the coming week inshAllah.

We have begun the development work of both the second book as well as some initial sign language animations for the digital mobile app alhamdulillah which will take much longer due to the accuracy and quality we would like to achieve inshaAllah.

We pray your Ramadan is going well for you. Alhamdulillah we are very close to reaching our target in this blessed month and wanted to extend our sincere Duas and appreciation to you. We have received generous support from diverse regions across the world alhamdulillah.

We pray that you have all been enjoying our YouTube Series tutorial guide teaching Islamic Signs in BSL, which is an excellent resource for those with or without a copy of our book. Check it out and spread the word.

As part of social media posts in Ramadan not only are we sharing video content but also related Islamic knowledge for everyone to benefit from. This said, we wanted to share seven tips with you;

1. Read - “Read” was the first word revealed by Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and they say that reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. 

2. Connect with the Qur’an - Ramadan as a month of fasting, but it is also the month “that in which the Quran was revealed”, (Qur’an, 2:185) so let's try to make it a daily part of our lives. 

3. Polishing Prayers - Let's try our best to not only to increase the number prayers in this month but make it a habit to try to improve our concentration in prayer.

4. Rekindle ties with family and friends - Simply spreading salaams and asking how someone is can make a huge difference to ties of kinship

5. Contemplate - Spend some time to simply review your year and ponder about how much impact you have had on the Ummah. 

6. Be Grateful - Say Alhamdulillah and give Shukr (Thanks) to Allah that you reached this Ramadan and plan ahead what you want to achieve in your life before next Ramadan.

7. Memorise new supplications - Why not learn a new DUA every few days and beautify your own personal supplications by learning some of the 99 names and attributes of Allah?

May Allah allow us to all reach the end of this Ramadan and reap the maximum rewards of the remaining days insha'Allah.

Alhamdulillah we have passed the 50% mark of our fundraising target - and wanted to thank you for your incredible support and kind generosity! Our first set of books are on the way to the UK and we will be prioristising all those who have patiently pre-ordered.

It is humbling that to have 208 supporters, and to be honest we need your support to collectively reach our £15,000 goal. If each of you was able to ask three other people to donate just £10 that would potentially bring in another awesome £6240 inshaAllah.

Alhamdulillah this week we were live on Islam Channel's Women's AM show discussing the attitudes to British Sign Language (BSL) among the community. The episode was aired on Wed 3rd May and you can view it here in the coming days.

With National Deaf Awareness Week UK "15th - 21st May 2017" fast approaching, we are keen to connect and present to as many schools as possible. Alhamdulillah we are close to reaching 50% mark of our fundraising target - we really appreciate your continued support and kind generosity!

Alhamdulillah we visited Date Valley School to deliver a Deaf Awareness Assembly and teach some Islamic Signs to their students who will be participating in a Sponsored Silence.

Alhamdulillah last week we featured on EMAN Channel’s ’Thursday Night Live’ - discussing Islamic Sign Language on their special final 15mins of the show “Too Good for TNL” from 37:30 onwards on the episode 6/4/17.

Alhamdulillah we authored an intriguing article for Productive Muslim entitled “On Being Deaf and Having a Sound Heart.” Please have a read, share your thought's and check out their awesome website.

Just wanted to say a big JazakAllahu Khairan for helping us nearly surpass the 30% mark of our overall fundraising target - we appreciate your dua's and generosity, more than you will ever know! 

Through Allah’s infinite mercy we have been able to launch our new website and finalize the first book, which is ready to print Alhamdulillah.

Alhamdulillah, with your help & duas, we've reached our first milestone: We have completed the illustration & formatting of our first book "A-Z Islamic Signs in BSL!"

As one of the first few supporters, we wanted to thank you personally for your contribution towards this unique campaign. I am honored and humbled that you took time out to show your support for the world's first series of Islamic Sign Language products. 

However, although the illustrations for the first book have been completed we are still short of funds to place the print order for the book!
