As Salaamu alaykum. We are WE CAN BUILD A BETTER HOOD and we have been putting the “neighbor” back in the “hood” since 2015. Since our inception, we have been providing resources for and serving hundreds of families, countless of homeless and displaced, the senior citizen communities, the mentally ill and struggling youth who are met with challenges in their community. In most of the communities we serve, literacy levels are low, and/or the unemployment rate is high. The truth is the cycle of sadness that poverty creates has been a generational epidemic that has rooted itself in many communities across this nation including ours. For the past 9 years we have been working feverishly to try and combat the sources that lead to this unending cycle of violence and poverty by combating the root issues. This cycle has suppressed individual’s cognitive thinking, executive functioning and overall attention that we have been committed to bringing awareness about. 

In the beginning, before we became a 501c3, we opened and operated 3 neighborhood clubhouses within the apartment complexes in one of Fort Worth's most underserved communities. It was also where we grew up and many of us still call home. By utilizing the spaces provided by the properties, we were able to provide activities and resources to a community who otherwise had none. We offered free afterschool meals, free art classes, operated the first 24-hr resource center, distributed free clothes, household items and donated items back to the community for free and sponsored many youth field trips and community events. 

This year alone, we have implemented a weekly service for one of the largest homeless communities in Fort Worth, Texas by providing essential items such as, dental, hygiene, and sanitation kits, along with weather inclement gear, clean socks, clothes and shoes since February 2023. Masha Allah.

 Since September 7, 2022, we have provided senior citizens with weekly art projects, light dance chair aerobics and formed some beautiful relationships with some amazing people. Masha'Allah

For our most current event, we are needing school supplies for 200 school aged kids in Fort Worth. On August 11th, we are organizing a free community event with free haircuts, food, entertainment and SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!! Please help us help them get this school started off on the right track with the right supplies that encourage confidence. Insha Allah.
