An effort to revive the forgotten Sunnah

Sahih Muslim : Book 14, Number 2507:
Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir:

I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: Allah, Most High, will cause three persons to enter Paradise for one arrow: the maker when he has a good motive in making it, the one who shoots it, and the one who hands it; so shoot and ride, but your shooting is dearer to me than your riding. Everything with which a man amuses himself is vain except three (things): a man's training of his horse, his playing with his wife, and his shooting with his bow and arrow. If anyone abandons archery after becoming an adept through distaste for it, it is a blessing he has abandoned; or he said: for which he has been ungrateful.

Would YOU like to be one of those THREE?

By donating / supporting me on reviving the forgotten sunnah of archery and bringing it to as many Mosque in Singapore as possible, insya-allah you have sealed your place amongst one of three that is "THE ONE WHO HANDS IT"

My name is Fachruddin Dzaki from Singapore and I am an Islamic religious teacher and also a traditional archer practicing the authentic traditional techniques of Ottoman archery as a passion NOT as a full time profession, I have always dreamed of reviving the forgotten sunnah of archery at all Mosque in Singapore and further my knowledge and skills in practicing the authentic Ottoman archery.

Why Traditional Ottoman Archery?

Traditional Malay archery ended together with most of the history under the British colonial rule.Through the years there are interest groups that tried to revive traditional archery but most has died trying to establish or practiced traditional professionally and competitively. As a member of "Traditional Archers Singapore" We have had our fair share of criticism and barriers reviving traditional instinctive archery. What most forget is instinctive archery has always been one of the primary weapons used in this region, the Malay Peninsula dating back to when Singapore was known as Temasek under the rule of Malacca Sultanate, which was closely knitted with the great Ottoman Empire of modern day Turkey. Traditional instinctive archery began to take shape again in 2000, at that time definition of instinctive archery is shooting an arrow from any bows including modern bows without sight or any other mode of assistance.

Why it Matters (The Impact)

Traditional archery has become a forgotten sport and a forgotten tradition. As they ( Muslims of all ages and gender ) struggle in this modern age in school and at work, getting sufficient exercise and maintaining focus as well as concentration is a challenge. This is where archery can prove that it is the sport that can help them. It is a sport almost anyone can participate in which will get their creative juices flowing as they learn how to shoot like the best. The joy of Traditional Archery is in its simplicity and its complexity. At its base level, it is simply a bow and arrow, but to use these tools well, takes practice and a desire to improve. It will give them a boost in a number of aspects in their life outside the sport.Traditional archery is different due its simplicity; without aids of sights nor aiming guides, it makes the archer step back and realise that execution of a job does not always need complexity. It is not only fun, it helps the mind to focus, body to breathe, limbs to exercise, heart to connect and most importantly spirit to develop. This activity has gathered strong interests from individuals bringing along their family members. Most were surprised with the simple technique of traditional archery. Although its just bow and arrows, the learning values has created bonds that goes beyond archery. From trust and respect to greater care and concern. Just some attributes to name, leads to a family of champions, on and off the archery range.

How You Can Help (The Three Lasting Good Deeds)
