Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un

‎إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Anwar Al-Haque, affectionately known as “Uncle” to many in the Hounslow Muslim Centre community. He has returned to his Lord today, Sunday, 2nd February 2025 at the age of 76.

Uncle Anwar was not just a founding member of our mosque; he was its heartbeat. The first to donate towards the purchase of the masjid, he embodied leadership through quiet, consistent action. His sincerity and humility shone through in everything he did—whether opening the mosque doors for Fajr, closing them after Isha, sitting in the front row of every Salah, or rolling up his sleeves for tasks big and small, from organising collections to sweeping the floors.

He led not with words, but with the strength of his example. A man who disliked argumentation, he was a unifying presence in our community, always fostering peace and understanding. His wisdom was delivered not through long speeches, but through simple acts of kindness, a warm smile, and heartfelt humour that touched all our hearts. His light-hearted jokes and gentle nature made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

And truly, Uncle Anwar’s dedication to the masjid—through its establishment, growth, and daily service—is a testament to this promise.

The Prophet (ﷺ) also said:

“There are seven whom Allah will shade with His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His shade: a just ruler, a young man who grew up in the worship of Allah Almighty, and a man whose heart is attached to the mosques…”

(Al-Bukhari & Muslim)

Uncle Anwar was indeed a man whose heart was deeply attached to the masjid.

May Allah (SWT) shower His boundless mercy upon Uncle Anwar, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah make his grave spacious, filled with light and peace, and reunite us all in the company of the righteous.

We humbly request you to keep Uncle Anwar in your du’as, asking Allah (SWT) to grant him eternal tranquility and reward him for his lifetime of devotion and service.

HMC will build a Masjid in Sierra Leone on behalf of Uncle Anwar, a true legacy as this is exactly what Uncle would have done
