Sommwhere in Yemen is partnering with Yemen Aid US to fund the construction of greenhouses and solar-powered wells throughout the country. Supporting these two projects prompts sustainability, change, and the empowerment of locals in the short and long term.

War has plunged Yemen into the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, making this once flourishing land unrecognizable even to those who call it home. To help farmers grow more with less, and create a fresh and sustainable food supply for communities in need, is to support and uplift entire villages. One greenhouse project in Yemen costs approximately $2,000 and includes training for the farmer(s), seeds for produce, and water irrigation support.

Building solar-powered pumps also provides an essential water source for farmers, and gives access to safe water to vulnerable towns. A solar-powered pumping system is a sustainable alternative solution to water wells. Over 200 households will benefit from the supplying and installation of a solar-powered pumping system which will also provide access to clean and safe water.

This campaign is a continuation of efforts launched through the event “Sommwhere in Yemen” (www.experienceyemen.com) in NYC on Eid, July 10-12. Our aim is to donate funds from this campaign and proceeds raised from “Sommwhere in Yemen” to support Yemen Aid US’ vital humanitarian projects across the country.
