Ramadan: A Month of Worship and Connecting

During Ramadan each year, we strive to provide a free iftar (fast breaking meal) and taraweeh (special nightly prayers) for the local community every night. Thankfully, we've been able to successfully pull it off for the last several years. However, these things cost money and resources, and that's where you come in!

Coming Together

With Allah's Help, each year we help to bring together people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and unite our hearts through brotherhood and sisterhood, sharing dinner, worshiping together, and getting to know one another. We see people from various walks of life: from students, to local families, to those working in the local area, to community activists and leaders, to those who are homeless or jobless and are struggling to make ends meet. We are a very diverse community and a very beautiful one, especially when we all come together under one roof. You can be a part of our community as well, either as a volunteer donating your time, or supporting us financially, or even just showing up and sharing in the experience.

Demanding Dinners

Throughout Ramadan, we come together as a community and break our fast, pray together, and enjoy each other's company. Every night we serve a great number of people for iftar; last year we served an average of 120 people daily in Ramadan! This has obviously strained our resources at times but with the Grace of God we were able to deliver on our promise. This year we are anticipating the same amount or even more people and we need your help!


We need funds to purchase meals and supplies needed for the dinner. Last year, donors prepared and delivered food on 13 days (similar to previous years), but we still had to purchase dinners from local restaurants for the remainder of Ramadan. We estimate that we'll need about $1,000 per day this year, similar to last year. This year, we have confirmed that at least 13 days will be provided voluntarily, so that leaves at most 17 days that we would need to purchase iftar on our own. That means we're going to need at most $1,000 x 17 days, or in other words about $17,000! We also need funds to support the Imam who leads the taraweeh prayer and for refreshments and lunch on Eid-ul-Fitr, so that brings the grand total to around $19,000! That seems like a lofty goal, but alhamdulillah we've been able to reach our target every year thanks to the generosity and support of people like you. We can use your help again this year!

With your help, we can make providing meals every day in Ramadan to those who are fasting a reality. Here are some ways to get involved and share in this great experience:

• Make a donation using the link provided above. One day would need about $1,000, but we can put to good use any amount you wish to give.
  
• Gather a group of volunteers to help prepare a fresh and fulfilling iftar with enough food to comfortably feed about 150 people.
