The Serat Addiction Institute of Mind and Medicine serves families and youth in the Muslim community who have been devastated by drug addiction, providing both Intensive Outpatient Treatment, counseling and recovery coaching for those who are in the process of recovery. What we have seen is that Muslims who are in the process of recovery and putting their lives back together do not have a place to go to to get the support they need. Through a facility for Muslims , we can help provide education to communities and a place where youth can come to heal themselves and put their lives back together to contribute to their families and communities once again. Out goal is to help address is issue of addiction in the Muslim community and provide an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Cent where Muslims can come on a daily basis to get counseling.
Addictions and recovery should matter to all of us Muslims and nonmuslims alike.It impacts our children just as iy impacts the rest of the population. Addiction is a disease that affects many of our children and we are rarely talking about it. Research shows that the more resources someone has to overcome addiction the higher the chance of them eventually recovering. We have lost so many youth to addictions in our communities and have been unable to establish a place where they can get the resources they need so they can come back and contribute to our communities.
In addition to continue to help fund our work of going out to have Muslim communities and educate them on the dangers of drug addiction we also provide a safe space for those who are in recovery to come and heal in a place where they can get detox as well as counseling services.
Spread awareness that addiction is a disease and that those in our communities need to be helped back on a spiritual path by helping them get the help that they need so that they can thrive in their lives.
