Brotherhood Sports Leagues Goal This Ramadan:

There are currently over a million active cases of COVID-19 worldwide. In Canada alone, there are more than 20,000 reported cases, a number that is expected to rise in the coming weeks.

What is even more frightening is that there are now several confirmed cases of the virus in countries with already strained healthcare systems, like Syria, Palestine, and Yemen. These countries often lack basic public health infrastructure, making it especially difficult to cope with the pandemic.

While we’ve all been doing our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 by social distancing, I want to take it one step further! To protect ourselves here in Canada and our brothers and sisters abroad, we need collective action. That is why BSL is making it our goal this Ramadan to support Islamic Relief Canada in their fight against COVID-19!

Who Will Benefit from Your Support?

Islamic Relief Canada is responding to regions with urgent need internationally to protect vulnerable families, strengthen health systems with much-needed supplies and support, and increase prevention and preparedness. In Syria, Gaza and Yemen, your support will provide urgent medical supplies, personal protection equipment (PPE), sanitizers, training for healthcare workers, and life-saving equipment.

Closer to home, Islamic Relief Canada has been building hundreds of hygiene kits which will be delivered to elderly members of our communities and vulnerable families, right here in Canada. They are also working to support low-income families who have been economically disadvantaged by the pandemic. Gifts of financial assistance and hygience/food supplies will help support families living below the poverty line, as they struggle with increasing pressure to make ends meet, as many have lost their primary sources of income.

The Brotherhood Sports League is a non-profit organization based in the Greater Toronto Area that leverages sports to give back to the community.

Islamic Relief Canada is an international aid and development charity working globally to end the cycle of poverty. In 2019 alone, their work reached 1.2 million people and they initiated over 40 projects to create sustainable, self-sufficient communities!
