Middle School is a vital time for Muslim adolescents to develop values, learn their deen and discover their sense of self. This pivotal stage of life is when kids begin to develop a relationship with their Lord, their religion, and their community as a whole. However, more often than not, our communities overlook the enrichment, support, and mentorship these students need to emerge as the next generation of successful Muslim leaders. After assessing the different programs in the Atlanta Muslim community in specific, we realized that the middle school age group was severely underserved. This is a huge disservice to not only the youth, but also our entire community. That is where Golden Age Youth comes in.  

 Studies have shown that meaningful experiences in our youth ultimately drive our passion and propensity towards faith and spirituality. Through summer programs, weekend retreats, and tutoring services, we aim to create a supportive and reflective atmosphere which allows youth to learn, mature, and grow.

Golden Age Youth is a growing social enterprise based in the Atlanta area that is the first of its kind. We create avenues to connect the rich knowledge and mentorship of local hufadh, speakers, and tutors to the students who need it most.

We believe that creating a “golden age” starts with our youth, who are at a pivotal, “golden” age in their personal development as Muslims.

We began in our local community of Roswell, Georgia by creating a breakthrough 8-week in-depth Quran focused summer program for this age group.

This program took middle school youth beyond the superficial, stereotyped level of “Sunday school knowledge,” and into a deeper study the Quran. The entire 8 weeks were dedicated to an immersive study of one Surah.

Students got a full Quranic experience with daily learning activities, tafseer lessons, discussions, Q&A, outdoor sports, and weekly guest speakers. In the end, each student left having memorized the entire Surah and internalized its lessons.

Since then we’ve expanded our services.

Our additional program offerings include:

Tutoring: A world-class support option for students who need help with homework, test preparation, and various academic and Islamic subjects. Students are connected with trained and certified tutors with the skills and passion to help them excel.

Weekend Retreat: The Retreat seeks to plant seeds for spiritual growth in each camper and connect them with Allah’s creation by allowing them to benefit from the company of inspiring mentors, scholars, and community leaders. The Retreat is filled with fun activities planned to engage and inspire campers.

StoryNight: StoryNights are family events lead by local scholars focused on bringing deeper, but practically relevant Islamic education to communities in the Metro Atlanta area.
