As we embark on our sixth year of teaching at Dar al-Zahra, we would like to thank you all for your amazing support and we look forward to sharing another successful year together inshallah.

 As many of you remember in 2022, we fundraised for some madrassa tables in order to support our students in their learning. Through your generosity we were able to fundraise for 20 tables. Alhamdulillah, as our madrassa is gradually growing, we are in need of 15 more madrassa tables. The cost of each table including VAT is £336.00. 

Why these tables are so important?

Our classes are taught in the traditional style where teachers and students sit on the floor. This has proven very difficult for our students of 11-18 year old girls who are used to sitting at desks in school. We want them to study in an environment that works for them, yet we want the environment to differ from their everyday school space. As a compromise we want to purchase wooden floor desks to use in our classroom. We do not want to purchase the plastic floor desks used in madrassas up and down the country as we believe they do not correspond to our Islamic world view of being custodians of the earth. We now know that plastic is having a devastating impact upon the planet and thus as teachers disseminating the Islamic way of life upon impressionable minds we have decided to make our environment as plastic free as possible.

We reach out to yourselves for help in this endeavour of purchasing tables for our students. 

These desks are designed for nursery aged children to be used with small chairs but are ideal as floor desks for young women. Each desk will be used by two students at a time inshallah.

These table will inshallah grant reward to the donor for as long as students of knowledge write upon them. May we all be part of the great good of disseminating knowledge on earth. Ameen 

Any additional funds raised will be invested back into the madrassa inshallah.
