Day of Dignity aims to serve the community through an all-encompassing day of service, in which volunteers, community leaders, and students organize the distribution of winter clothing, school supplies, warm food, groceries, and medical services...all for free!

Last year we were honored to serve over 500 residents allowing over 1400 family members to benefit from the goods and services we provided. Medical professionals including doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists worked with us to provide direct and immediate healthcare services to over 100 of our neighbors. 

We are in need of an optometrist & dentist! Please reach out to salmajafiq@niamasjid.org if you would like to volunteer! 

On Saturday October 26,  NIA Masjid in partnership with Islamic Relief USA will organize a hub of tents in Lincoln Park to serve the Newark community. With the increase cost of living, we kindly ask for your donations to help fund supplies and healthcare services.

Free Groceries & Warm Meals 

A bag of groceries which caters to our friends without kitchens or cooking ware. While we are working with local grocery stores to build our list, we need sponsors to help us provide some of these basic necessities. Your donation of $25 helps sponsor a grocery bag, as the cost of groceries have gone up, and our usual donors struggle to give, imagine how difficult it is for those to provide for their families. 

Soup Kitchen: NIA is proud to expand our a monthly soup kitchen that usually runs on Roseville Ave to Lincoln Park on the Day of Dignity. The soup kitchen provides a warm meal, seating for people to connect and break bread. 

Free Health Services 

On site, we have designated tents specific to the needs of several medical services: dental care, medical & optometric services. All of these services are run by volunteer Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Medical Students, Dentists and Podiatrists. Our coordinators screen all volunteers to ensure their qualifications are suitable for meeting patients. Confidentiality is a priority to our professionals, ensuring that everyone is met with the integrity and care that they deserve. All patients are given referrals, advise and kits to ensure they have ongoing care. We also have multiple social resources from the city.  We are looking for professionals across all professions. To volunteer please email salmajafiq@hotmail.com

Free Haircuts & Hygiene kits 

Imagine not having access to combing your hair, brushing your teeth or washing your face with soap. These are basic human needs that all humans should be allowed access to. 

Free warm clothing

We give out thermals, gloves, scarves, socks and more with our winter bundles. We are currently running a coat drive with United Muslim Relief -NJIT chapter. We will also be distributing new 250 Mens coats, 250 women's coats and 200 kids coats. Find info about the coat drive here. Drop off is on campus NJIT - CC B06
