Sawera Sharafat's Story

Sawera Sharafat, 2 years old, suffers from rectovestibular fistula- a congenital anorectal disorder. In order to correct this, she requires an ASARP surgery as soon as possible. Since she is still an infant, she is at the ideal stage to get this corrective procedure.

 When her condition was diagnosed, Sawera’s father, Sharafat Ali, took her to a local hospital for treatment, where her first operation was done. She required another surgery but when they went to the same hospital for the second time, the staff didn’t cooperate with them at all. They refused to attend to her unless the amount of the surgery was paid in full. Sharafat Ali could not afford the expenses of her second surgery at the time.

A shoemaker by profession, Sharafat Ali earns 3000/- PKR a week. He has two small children and a wife to support. The only asset he owns is a small house in Mureedkay, where the family lives. When a relative told him about Transparent Hands, he saw an opportunity to finally get his daughter the necessary medical attention.

“We named her Sawera because she is our sunshine. My day isn’t complete without seeing my daughter smile. If I could, I would give her the world, but I can’t. All I can do is ask for help. I hope someone will come to our aid soon because I want to see my daughter as healthy as possible.” – Sharafat Ali
