What is the project?
The aim of this project is to establish the National Islamic Studies Library. Our vision is to create a library which will host the most extensive collection of Islamic literature in the UK and Europe as well as a ‘Centre’ of Islamic academic and intellectual activities. Our aim is to make this place a Centre for community activities from
academic courses and research to serving children to achieve their potential in school and higher education. We have a keen interest in reaching out to disadvantage families (especially in the super output areas) and helping their children excel and achieve their potential. We wish to create a safe space for everyone especially women and children.

The idea is to make the Library fit for the 21 st Century. This means the Library will reflect the changes in society and attitudes towards libraries. The Library will, therefore, be multifunctional and multipurpose. It will not be a library in its traditional sense, but a Library where people can access literature as well as education, training and much more. Our belief is that a library should be a place where people can congregate and meet as well as sit and quietly do work and read, it is a safe space for anyone and a place where everyone is welcomed.

What are we raising money for?
There are four major phases to this project. We are trying to achieve phase one. Phase one is to secure the site to build the National Islamic Studies Library. This land will act a waqf (Islamic endowment) for the donors. This means it’s a sadaqa jariyah for you and you will continue to get reward for all the good deeds and benefit this project will produce forever.

How will the money be used?
We will spend every penny raised to further the charitable aims and objectives of the Organisation. Our primary aim now is to buy the site.

The National Islamic Studies Library is a project of the Ibn Rushd Centre of Excellence for Islamic Research.

> The Centre aims to be a world-class centre of excellence in research and Islamic studies
> The Centre’s activities will focus on issues of significance and relevance to Islam and Muslims in the contemporary period with a special focus on the United Kingdom and Europe
> The Centre will establish international connections and develop research programmes that will advance international understanding of Islam, with particular focus on Islam and Muslims in the United Kingdom and Europe.
> The Centre will function as a source of expert advice for government, national and international organisations on matters related to contemporary Islamic issues
> The Centre will offer professional development programme for the community.
> The Centre will provide courses to help equip people with a better understanding of Islam for work within Muslim communities, such as schoolteachers, social workers, health professionals, business managers, community leaders and other professionals
