We'll dress in fun children’s characters and visit children in the hospital. Give packages out consisting of craft supplies, gas gift card for parents, fun fuzzy socks, hair scrunchies, nail polish, little plants, stickers and water bottles, etc.!

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that ‘I and the one who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two’ — and he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together, barely separate” (Bukhari, No. 5304).

Caring for orphans is viewed as a highly righteous and noble act in Islam and it is one that is greatly rewarded by Allah. As charity is one of the core pillars of Islam, we strive to help the millions of orphans around the world that need support. Each orphan has their own unique story illustrated with the loss of a mother, a father, or both. Each child is vulnerable to malnourishment, poverty, sickness, and abuse. Help us break the cycle. There are an astonishing 153 million orphans worldwide, but we can make a difference with your help.

The McMaster Orphan Sponsorship Program is committed to supporting and empowering orphans worldwide. We are one of the largest student-led fundraising campaigns at McMaster University and have successfully raised over $150,000 in the past seven years. With this we have sponsored over 190 orphans. Each year we collaborate with students, staff, local businesses, and members of the community to raise money for orphans worldwide.

Following the devastation of the global pandemic, McMaster OSP has partnered with Penny Appeal to provide food, clothing, education, and access to medical care to orphans worldwide. Our campaign will launch on October 7th and we need YOUR help to raise $30,000. We have several exciting in-person events planned for this year.
