Islamic civilisations used to be beacons of knowledge, religion, spirituality and human rights, all at once. Those golden years saw Islamic scholars being botanists, scientists, astrologists and philosophers. Today that worldview has all gone. While we celebrate the success of our predecessors, we need to build our own legacy.
In the Island of Comoros in the village of Mbeni, Madrasat Al-Arqam of the late Ibrahim Abdou Rashid takes matters into its own hands despite its limited resources. The school organises a Quran memorisation competition for young people every year during the month of Ramadan. It is an initiative to nurture the young generation with the memorisation and deep understanding of the Holy Quran, while supporting them to acquire other education in science, technology, medicine art and culture among others.
Everyone’s support is needed to impact as many kids as we can.
Contributing to this initiative means giving hope to these young boys and girls to own their future
They are young boys and girls between the age of 7 to 15 who memorise the Holy Quran. They need encouragement, support and protection.
There is no better support for these kids than ensuring a good education for them. The funds raised here will be spent to buy books, school accessories for the participants and pay school fees for participants in the wining categories.
If we dream of a new golden age for Muslims, this is a way to do that. In the Muslim world, we need more scholars who are able to relate the Quran to the innovations and disruptions that are happening in our everyday life. They must be doctors, scientists etc. and “Hafiz al-Quran” at the same time. Let us plant the seeds right now!
Let’s Prepare Our After Life and be Constantly Rewarded Even After Our Death
The Prophet said: "When a man passes away, his good deeds will also come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)".
The children we empower today will be the future leaders of tomorrow and the saviours of many generations to come. What a better way to invest for our life after death!

You have been very kind enough to support this campaign which raised funds for the Quran memorization competition that took place in Mbeni, Comoros during the month of Ramadan.
The campaign received USD1994.59 online donation and USD517 offline donation. Of the USD1994.59 donated online, USD $ 1,582.62 was the amount received after deduction of all taxes. The funds were sent to the organizing committee of the competition in Comoros. Over 100 young kids participated the competition and most of them received something as a way to motivate them.
