Who are we working with

In Bangladesh, there are so many poor communities living under poverty line. But this specific one has a totally different story.

‘Bede’ (pronounced bae-they) is one of the most deprived and unrecognized tribes in Bangladesh. For years after years, it seems like every outlet of the society have integrally failed to shine the spotlight on them. Nobody gathered the enthusiasm to talk about the humanitarian crisis these people face.

Between the capital city of Dhaka to the second busiest city Chittagong, there is a place named Langolbandh. A total of 24 families of the tribe have found a tiny patch of land to take shelter and survive here. As these people do not have a place to call home, they have taken shelter in this city right by the major highway of the country. As part of the tradition, no society or establishment ever accepted these people to be a part of them or to help them rehabilitate. These families are now totally helpless with their 52 kids as none of them reached maturity. We are starting our project with these deprived kids as for now. Not to mention we will be expanding our area of work with other rootless and drifting communities.

Their living condition is another misery. In their little ‘camp’, it looks as if it is a war zone. Tiny sheds made with used and dirty plastics, cardboard, supported by bamboo or rusty rods and no floor at all- that is their home. Be it windy or cold, scorching sun or never stopping rain, they have no choice but to live in those slums.

Why Do They Need Help More Than Others

Since the mainstream society of the country has always counted these people as outcast, they barely have any means to find a stable source of income. At times, they will find odd and unconventional jobs which barely provides for them and do not help in skill development at all. They have zero access to communicate with community leaders, so this inhumane life-condition remains constant. Their children are not welcome in the schools. Thus, leaving this whole tribe completely illiterate throughout decades.

Let's Spread The Light of Knowledge to The Children of Adam

We want to build this tribe, from its very core structure. Lot of times, they receive temporary cash donations but without proper knowledge or education that money adds no value to their lives. And as we all agree, there is no better way to build a community than to provide them with proper education, we have started an education camp where their kids will study for free and we will give them meals. We will teach them regular curriculum, Islamic education, general hygiene and health tips.

Just like food and shelter, they cannot survive without education!

We are a nonprofit organization focused on building an empowered Bangladesh. Our projects include installing tube well pumps, Distributing Qurbani meat, providing medical aid in the wake of flooding, sponsoring Ramadan Iftar, helping flood affected victims recover from damage  Blanket Distribution and more. We have also reached out to support Rohingya Refugees.  We have established six children learning centers and medical camps to provide medical care and shelter to children and families. We are in collaboration with Basmah Foundation to ensure the success and smooth running of all our medical camps. Volunteers from our partner organization Basmah Foundation (Government of Bangladesh NGO Affairs Bureau Registration Number – 3160) help in running day-to-day operations .This project and all services offered at this free blanket distribution, 2019-2020 .
