UK Gift Aid

Verified for authenticity.

A charity formed by students of knowledge to support the impoverished in Egypt with a focus on Widows and Orphans, in association with Nottingham Islam.

We are a group of students from the West (UK, US, France, Holland, Canada, & Australia) currently studying in Cairo, Egypt. Having been moved by the poverty in the surrounding areas.

EgyptAid is a charitable organization with a 100% donation policy, operating in Egypt for the past 9 years. Directed by sheikh Ala, we have a few local scholars at the helm, and it is supported by a number of students of knowledge who volunteer with their free time.

The people being supported are the poor and disadvantaged of Cairo, and some village districts south of the country. The recipients predominantly range from orphans, widows, divorcees, families of prisoners, and the disabled and terminally ill.

We distribute food parcels and cash support to the needy on a weekly basis, we provide monthly sponsorship of a number of orphanages and charitable centres including students of knowledge from poor backgrounds, we annually support Quran memorisation centres and purchase essential stationary supplies for children. We also assist the sick and ill with medical expenses and cover the costs of the medicine required.

In Ramadan we hand out hot meals to nearly 2000 people daily, and bless the children with Eid clothing and toys on the day of Eid.

Many families live on less than $2/£1.63 a day, no donation is too small.

May Allah عز وجل reward you for your help and accept it from you and us.

Eid for Orphans 2023

Eid gifts are dreams of Muslim children across the world.

Unfortunately a vast majority of the Egyptian children don’t get that chance to experience the joy of new clothing and gifts on the day of Eid. Some go without shoes throughout the year, while wearing clothes too small or damaged, unsuitable for their protection.

Share the joy this Eid by giving an orphaned or disadvantaged child a gift through EgyptAid. Your donation will be used to buy clothing and toys, designed to bring a smile to the little gems. The gifts are distributed on the days of Eid to the orphans and families.

Just £10 can provide an Eid Gift for children, which includes new clothes, shoes, toys or any combination of the three.

Orphan Sponsorship

Amongst the many members of society, orphans are among the most vulnerable. This is particularly true in Egypt where there is little social support and where services are largely inadequate.

Egypt is home to 1.7 million orphaned children. Many of them are forced to work young in dangerous environments due to poverty. In order to survive, most of them resort to begging or crime.

The noble values which Islam has laid out can be summarily understood by looking at the importance the religion has given to looking after orphans.

Alhamdulillah, Egypt Aid supports hundreds of orphans, helping safeguard their iman and providing them a chance where there once was not.

The monthly cost of sponsoring an orphan is as follows:

  • £20 to support a mother & 1 child
  • £30 to support a mother & 2 children
  • £40 to support a mother & 3 children
  • £50 to support a mother & 4 children

What will your sponsorship provide?

Basic medical care, food, education & clothing.

Transforming a life costs us little but provides for us a route into Paradise. It is a means of continuous charity as the donor receives rewards for all the good that the sponsored child does and will do once given the opportunity.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,

“The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.

(Sahih Al Bukhari, 5659)

Ramadan Food Parcel 2023/1444

The Prophet (ﷺ) was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become more generous in Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then used to be more generous than the fast wind.

Ramadan is here, and we need your support, hundreds and thousands need you… orphans, widows, sick, poor, disabled, students, elderly…

The bulk of the recipients of food parcels are widows and women in general. It's a sad state and a very sad situation for most. This small relief of food at least settles the families for a few weeks. Please support our sisters in Egypt.

Ramadan Iftar 2023/1444

Zayd ibn Khalid reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Whoever helps break the fast of a fasting person, he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.

Udhiya/Qurbani 2022/1443

Once again EgyptAid is giving you the chance to offer Udhiya/Qurbani in Egypt, allowing you to fulfil your obligation, while feeding the poor and the forgotten.

Prescribed in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger , Udhiya/Qurbani is one of the great symbols of Islam. It is an emphasised Sunnah, and carries great merit and reward.

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported:

I was present with the Prophet (), on Eid Al-Adha at the place of prayer. When the Prophet () finished his sermon, he came down from his pulpit and a ram was brought to him. The Prophet () slaughtered it with his own hand, saying:

“In the name of Allah and Allah is the greatest. This is from me and those of my nation who cannot offer a sacrifice.”

Al-Tirmidhi said, ‘This was acted upon by the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophet () and others, that a man should say at the time of slaughtering:

“In the name of Allah, and Allah is the greatest.” It is the opinion of Ibn al-Mubarak.’

With the blessings of Allah
سبحانه و تعالى, last year 2021/1142, which was our first year offering Udhiya/Qurbani services, left us overwhelmed with the response from the Muslim Ummah in providing for the impoverished of Egypt.

We were able to sacrifice 176 animals for the auspicious occasion of Eid Al-Adha. Consisting of 170 Goats/Lambs, 4 Cows, and 2 Buffalo.

May Allah سبحانه و تعالى allow us to worship and remember Him as befits Him; and give us the ability to follow the traditions of His noble religion in the coming days.

  • A small animal counts as 1 share. A large animal counts as 7 shares.
  • Please provide a name and fathers name when donating.
  • Deadline: Wednesday 11th of July 2022.
