Aberdeen Muslims helping the people of Gaza through Eid at the Beach

Aberdeen Muslims in partnership with Muslim Charity are fundraising for the people of Gaza until Eid al Adha in June 2024.

The fundraising total will be announced at Eid at the Beach event in Aberdeen; a family fun day consisting of the Eid prayer in the morning and traditional food, children's activities and games right after.

The event is a first of it’s nature at the beach site in the UK and one that brings all the mosques and communities together for one external Eid prayer and celebration, and for that we thank Aberdeen Mosque and Islamic Centre, Syed Shah Mustafa Mosque, Masjid Alhikmah and Community Centre and the Turkish Education and Cultural Centre.

Our hearts however are still heavy with what has happened and is still happening on a daily basis in Gaza. We have a duty to make the day as special as we can for the families and children here in Aberdeen but we also have a duty to do what we can for our brothers and sisters over there, and so all donations raised at the Eid Party will be given to Gaza where Muslim Charity are already on the ground, risking their lives to get food and water to the people.

The current situation in Gaza is getting worse by the day and it is dangerous for charities to operate and get food through.  The situation has escalated to the extent that the Israelis are considering a full-fledged attack on the largest refugee camp in the world in Rafah, where over 1.4 million Palestinians are crammed together.

Our charity partners, Muslim Charity, have been working in Gaza since 2013 and have aid workers on the ground to ensure that the hungry are getting fed.

We can feed a family for a whole month for £50.  Our pledge is to get the basic human needs to the people of Rafah, as are expecting an imminent attack from the Israeli army.

The date of the event cannot be confirmed until ten days prior, however it is known that Eid at the Beach will fall next month on Sunday 16th June 2024 or Monday 17th June 2024, depending on the moon cycles.

In the meantime, we encourage the people of Aberdeen to help the people of Gaza by donating through the official link.

Any businesses, organisations or individuals that would like to be part of the event by booking a stall, please email aberdeenmuslims@gmail.com
