JOIN US TO EMPOWER ROHINGYA YOUTH
ELOM EMPOWERMENT aims to provide refugees with opportunities and means such as computer training, practical life skills, language classes, vocational training, and leadership programs to reach their full potential to become active members of the society.
Upon the request of the refugee youth, Elom Empowerment planned to open a computer training for them in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in January 2019. The purpose of this training program is to equip them with the skill necessary to continue for their further studies and vocational training.
Elom Empowerment has established ELOM COMMUNITY CENTER in 2018 to provide a safe, fun, and secure learning space for refugees living in Malaysia.
Elom empowerment is providing a platform to enrich the refugees' ability to participate in the mainstream workforce and to become productive members of the hosting community.
Elom's ongoing projects
Elom empowerment is running Rohingya Community Educare Center (RCEC), a community based primary school, in partnership with HALUAN, and English classes and other vocational training since 2017.
Strengthen us with your support to change the lives of refugees.

Brief Rohingya History
Since Burma's independence, in 1948, the ruling Bama majority has been disseminating negative propaganda which has led to extreme resentment among Buddhist communities toward Rohingya minorities. This has forced the Rohingya population on the road to statelessness where their freedom of movement, access to health care, education and other basic services have been severely restricted.
As a result, the vast majority of them are illiterate, and the Rohingyas continue to live in the loop of inter-generational despair and poverty.
Over the decades of systematic persecution, the Rohingyas are forced to seek asylum throughout Asia and the Pacific region including Malaysia. There are approximately 200,000 Rohingya refugees currently residing in Malaysia, and it is estimated about 40,000 in Kuala Lumpur area alone.
