After victory and liberation, community-driven committees have been established in every neighborhood of Damascus. These committees of volunteers are made of respected local figures; including Imams, Doctors, Engineers, and dedicated individuals with a strong sense of initiative. The local committees serve as the foundation for social and community-driven initiatives in an environment of solidarity, cooperation, and a shared pursuit of the greater good.  

Given the current challenges, including the suspension of government services and economic hardships, these committees are responding urgently to restore life and essential services. They need your support to implement impactful projects that will greatly benefit local residents. The initiative of these local committees is a step toward empowerment, capacity building, and fostering an active and engaged social society.  

Key Projects of the Damascus Local Committees:

1. Reducing Theft and Restoring Security: 
  With power outages leaving neighborhoods in complete darkness during the long winter nights, local committees are working to install alternative lighting using batteries and solar energy. This initiative aims to deter theft, address security concerns, and bring a sense of safety and reassurance to residents.  

2. Public Sanitation Services: 
  Due to disruptions in waste collection services in many Damascus neighborhoods, the local committees have stepped in to tackle this pressing issue, which has significant health implications, particularly in narrow alleyways. The committees are working to clean and sanitize waste collection areas and provide additional garbage bins to improve hygiene and public health.  

3. Renovating School Facilities:  
  Many schools are in dire need of repairs and maintenance. The local committees are focused on rehabilitating restrooms, refurbishing wooden desks, and repainting walls to create a conducive learning environment that supports the intellectual and physical development of children, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.
