In a few weeks Muslims all over the world will be celebrating Eid al Adha. A time commemorating the sacrifice of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) when tasked to sacrifice his own son. One of the greatest actions one can do when in this blessed month of Dhul Hijjah is embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage. However, if one is unable to go, the greatest action they can partake in is the Qurbani/Udhiyyah which is the sacrificing of an animal in the name of God. 

They aren’t beggars, but we are givers!

As a student of Islam that has been spending the last 3 years studying Islam, I have been taught that the act of Qurbani is not only great in that it is a sacred ritual commemorating the sacrifice of the Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail, but it is also a way of dispersing food to those in need. 

10 days of blessings and an eternity of reward!

The Qurbani that you donate will not only weigh heavily on your scale of good deeds in front of God, but it will be a means of feeding the hungry. As we enter into the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, days that are highly rewarded, I encourage you to gain some reward and to benefit as much as possible from these blessed days.
