What happened?
On 13 February 2023 at 22:16 (local time) till this day, the people in Taliwang, West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia got hit by floods. It covered a hundred houses and buildings for several days. Nonetheless, the recent updates say that the water flood subsided on 16 February, but there are some locations that take longer for the water to drain, including the school SDIT Imam Syafi'i Taliwang located in Jalan Banjar RT. 03 RW. 04 Lingkungan Muhajirin, Kelurahan Bugis, Taliwang, West Sumbawa. As of today, the teaching and learning process has not been started yet due to the situation and as a matter of fact, all the school staff, teachers, and students are asked to come to help clean the school and surrounding.

Geographically, Indonesia as an archipelagic country (Lesser Sunda Island) comprising 17000 islands is prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. The affected area, West Sumbawa, has a higher tendency to be hit by floods when there’s an extreme rain intensity and climate change, which has happened periodically. This time, the flood was quite powerful and the people were unprepared for the excess water.
What's the money for?
As the school Imam Syafi'i Taliwang is situated in the lower reaches of the river (downstream), it makes the water from the flood quite long and hard to run off. Therefore, the money will be used to fix the waterways and build access to clean water.
