Our Story

Lack of fully halal-certified health supplements

My name is Martin Herbrich and after spending 20 years on a top corporate level, I thought it was time to do something more meaningful with my life. Being an (amateur) athlete and having an interest in health and nutrition I set up my own company.

I am married into the Muslim community in Singapore and having relatives in the UAE, I’ve been exposed to the sub-optimal lifestyle choices many people make especially in relation to nutrition and exercise.

While most people understand that their nutritional choices are not the best, they seem to be unwilling to change them.

That’s how the formulation of my Multi-Vitamin Essentials was born.

We added some more promising ingredients

Rather than concentrating on raw material prices, misleading percentages between 5 and 9333% of RDA, volume weight and dubious proprietary brand combinations limits are set at 100% with a little variation for Vitamin D/B12 and Biotin (most likely the most deficient ones) and calcium/magnesium (most likely the least deficient ones).

Keeping the serving size at 1 tablet/day (anything else most people seem to be confused with) I managed to add on a few other promising ingredients. With the above, the difficulty many people have in understanding labels is probably not solved but at least reduced and on top, the full label is bilingual Arabic/English.

Many people in my extended family and the Muslim community, in general, are reluctant to take supplements because of this.

Where we are now and where is the money going? 

Over the past 12 months, I've managed to open in 2 locations: the UAE and Singapore, which will both go live in December 2020. The product is already finished production and we are about to receive our first shipment by mid-late November 2020.

1. Is your product truly halal certified or is it simply free of haram ingredients?

“Essentials” is truly halal-certified by the internationally recognized organization IFANCA which is the biggest in its field certifying for hundreds of companies worldwide. This means that not only are the ingredients and the finished product halal-certified but also so is the complete manufacturing process with on-site visits. 2. Do you ship to all the countries? 

Yes, we ship across the world. There are no restrictions on shipping. 

3. When will I receive my goods? 

We have already received the stock and we will begin shipping out the goods 2 weeks after the order date. This cool-off period is to accommodate any refunds/cancellations. Delivery takes about 1-3 weeks, depending upon your location and other factors like customs and regulations. 

4. Who is responsible for import duties and taxes? 

Customers are responsible for import duties if any. 

5. Can I take this during Ramadan? 

Yes. During the month of Ramadan, some customers find it beneficial to take 2 tablets instead of the recommended serving size of 1 tablet per day. The 1st tablet is taken in the morning before fasting begins and 2nd tablet is taken during the evening after breaking the fast to compensate for the extended fasting hours. 

6. Can I buy it as a gift for someone?

7. Can I buy more than one? 

Yes, you can buy as many as you like. There are no limits. 

8. How many tablets I need to take per day? 

One 1 tablet a day. This makes it super easy to manage. 

9. Why is your serving size 1 tablet while most other manufacturers recommend taking 2-3 tablets?

“Essentials” is manufactured in one of the most advanced laboratories in California USA using, the highest quality and purity of the ingredients as well as the most sophisticated pressing and coating methods. This has allowed us to keep the serving size conveniently at 1 tablet/day.

10. How many days/months does a bottle last?

11. Why did you add Glutathione, Inositol, Bamboo Extract, Coenzyme Q10, Hyaluronic acid and Probiotics to your Multivitamin?

Many customers find it confusing to take different health supplements from different bottles and at different times during the day. In line with our 1-serving/day approach, we were able to add the above ingredients to our Multivitamin without increasing the serving size. These health supplement ingredients are not yet as well researched as vitamins and minerals but 1st studies about their benefits are promising. 

12. Most supplement companies offer a great variety of products. Why do you offer only one?  

Blue Angel Farm is an owner-run business. This means that instead of focusing on the quantity we concentrate on quality.

We also make sure that all our ingredients are carefully studied and that their health benefits are scientifically as well as clinically proven (please contact feedback@blueangelfarm.com in case you can‘t access the literature links provided for further reading).

We are currently working on additional products but we will never introduce a product to market until we are 100% convinced about its effectiveness and proven health benefits for our customers.

13. Why does your supplement bottle have such a wide neck? 

We experienced many customers not wanting to “touch” the tablets and put them back into the bottle (hands moist after washing, hand sanitizer/crème, etc.).

With a standard bottleneck size, you would need to “shake” the tablet out of the bottle usually getting more than 1 tablet on your hand. As the serving size is 1 tablet you will put but the remaining tablets back into the bottle.

With the wide neck, you can conveniently single pick your individual tablet. Other customers prefer to “shake” the tablet(s) into the cap and pick it from there.

14. Isn't a contradiction to provide Vitamin-D above the 100% requirement? 

A Vitamin D deficiency is typically associated with excessive fatigue and tiredness but can also be linked to a myriad of other health problems such as getting sick easily, experiencing low bone mineral density, muscle pain and hair loss.
Accordingly, a recent study that was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health demonstrated that 96% of adolescents in Saudi Arabia have a severe Vitamin D deficiency  (AlBuhairan, F. et al. Time for an Adolescent Health Surveillance System in Saudi Arabia: Findings from “Jeeluna” Journal of Adolescent Health, 2015).

Adequate amounts of Vitamin D cannot be obtained from a normal diet and a limited amount is produced by our bodies through exposure to the sunlight.
Due to our lifestyle choices and religious beliefs we do not expose ourselves to the sun long enough to promote optimal Vitamin D production in the body.

Furthermore, the body does not readily process Vitamin D. So in order to improve the body‘s ability to use Vitamin D and to be on the safe side, we increased the serving to 150% of the RDA.

15. Why not only consume Vitamin D then? 

We want to make sure that your body gets the right balance of vitamins, minerals and other ingredients in order for it to function optimally and support you during your daily tasks and lifestyle.
