Our Vision for Masjid al-Taqwa

We are working to establish Masjid al-Taqwa in Morriston, Swansea, transforming a local chapel into a vibrant, welcoming mosque. Our goal is to create a place where Muslims can come together to worship, learn, and grow as a community. This mosque will also serve as a bridge to foster understanding and cooperation between the Muslim community and our neighbors.

The building we’ve found is ideal in size and location, but it requires significant renovations to suit the needs of a mosque. One of the key changes is converting the main hall for prayer, including removing the seating and laying down proper carpeting for prostration. We also need to create a dedicated area for wudu (ablution) and ensure the building has appropriate facilities for everyone.

Why This Matters to Us

Morriston currently lacks a mosque, and the establishment of Masjid al-Taqwa would bring immense benefit to the local Muslim community. It will not only be a space for daily prayers but also serve as a center for education, social gatherings, charity efforts, and community outreach. It will be a place where people of all backgrounds can come together in unity and peace.

We need your help to make this vision a reality. The annual rent for the building is £15,000, and additional funds are needed for renovations, including new flooring, wudu facilities, and necessary utilities. We aim to create a functional and welcoming space that will serve the Morriston community for generations to come.
