Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in several cities across The Gambia. Many communities are left stranded as the government scrambles to devise a resettling scheme that may take months or even years before it is ready. 

The Gambia is a small strip of low-lying land in west Africa along both banks of the river from which it takes its name. As one of the world’s poorest and least-developed countries, families that are already suffering from a major humanitarian crisis are now dealing with the effects of extreme flooding.

This would be bad enough if the river and canals were clean, but recently, a pipe was dumping raw sewage into it. Crocodiles have been seen lurking nearby, and a short time ago one made its way into a local mosque. 

We need your help to save those struggling for survival. Many don’t have food, clean water or other basic survival resources.
